Exoticism is rare, different, and not found everywhere.
Human mandate imposes its will, driven by morbid curiosity, and seizes it.
Even life itself.
It is seen as an object, merchandise, a spectacle, or a trip worthy of a memorable moment.
All this just for existing.
And perhaps without the certainty of knowing that the enclosures smell like prison, although some don't call them that.
Instead, a conservation center.
In captivity are the victims of trafficking, and there's no other way but to stay, because survival outside is nonexistent.
But it depends on why or how they arrive.
If they are rescued and not in danger of extinction, they can return.
It's not necessary to share the moral spectrum with them, apparently inherent in humanity, to realize they don't want to be there, but rather run, swim, or fly without limits.
It's said they have no emotions, although science suggests some possibilities.
It's inevitable to feel the need to free them, but it's a childish outburst because the consequences would be equally disastrous.
Zoos are a necessary evil because they respond to the logic of the strongest.
Admiring beauty from a distance and respect is a possibility, where human intervention is minimal.

El dilema de los zoológicos
El exotismo es raro, diferente, y no se encuentra en todos lados.
El mandato humano hace de las suyas, y movido por el morbo se apropia de él.
Hasta de la vida.
Es vista como un objeto, una mercancía, un espectáculo o un paseo digno de un momento memorable.
Todo esto solo por existir.
Y tal vez sin la certeza de saber que los recintos huelen a prisión, aunque algunos no los llaman así.
Si no un centro de conservación.
En el encierro están las víctimas de tráfico, y no queda otro camino que quedarse, porque la supervivencia afuera es nula.
Pero depende de por qué o cómo llegan.
Si son rescatadas y no están en peligro de extinción, pueden volver.
No es necesario compartir el espectro moral con ellas, aparentemente inherente en la humanidad, para darse cuenta de que no quieren estar allí, sino correr, nadar o volar sin límites.
Según no tienen emociones, aunque la ciencia responde que hay algunas posibilidades.
Es inevitable sentir la necesidad de liberarlos, pero es un arrebato infantil, porque las consecuencias serían igual de nefastas.
Los zoológicos son un mal necesario porque responden a la lógica del más fuerte.
Admirar la belleza desde la distancia y el respeto es una posibilidad, donde la intervención humana sea mínima.
