RAPESEED DREAMS AT SUNSET

Since I started taking photos more seriously, I began seeing the world differently. Suddenly it’s all about colors, light, textures and small details I never really noticed before. It’s like my brain switched into “observer mode” and there’s no going back now. And you know what? I really like this feeling! 😄

So the last spring I became completely captivated by one particular color: yellow. And not just any yellow. I’m talking about the glowing, sun-drenched, punch-you-in-the-eyes yellow of blooming rapeseed fields! I saw it everywhere on my route!

While parked in Metz, France, I had a bit of free time and decided to explore the area on foot. And guess what? Just a few hundred meters from the truckspot I found the jackpot: a perfectly blooming rapeseed field bathed in golden evening light. I came back the next day too. I simply couldn’t resist. I was really happy to take some nice pictures.

RAPESEED is one of Europe’s most important crops, used for vegetable oil, animal feed and biofuel. The flowers are rich in nectar and loved by pollinators, while photographers love them for obvious reasons – the fields are like golden carpets stretching to the horizon.
France, Germany, Poland and the UK are among the top producers of rapeseed in Europe. The fields are often rotated with other crops like wheat or barley to maintain soil health.
