RANDOM FRAMES FROM THE ROAD

Kopia – Single frame.jpg

Checking in from Poland!

The more photos I take, the more single frames I find somewhere in my archive. Some of them were taken during a short stop, others during one of my walks and sometimes I simply noticed something interesting, took one photo and continued on my way. Not every place or subject becomes a whole series of photographs. Sometimes I have only one single frame, but I still like it enough that I don't want to leave it forgotten somewhere on my hard drive.

So today, I once again went through some of these single photographs and chose five of them. This time they have practically nothing in common. They were taken in different places, at different times and show completely different subjects. Each of them has its own little story. The only thing they have in common is that, for one reason or another, they caught my attention and made me stop for a moment and take a photo.

So let's beginn!

EMPTY ROAD

I chose this photo because of the current “Empty” contest organized by the @qurator. By the way, if you also have a photo that could fit this theme, I invite you to take part in the contest. 🙂

This photo was taken in Warsaw on the S8 expressway. I drive through this place quite often and every time I pass through this kind of semi-tunnel, I have a little bit of a feeling as if I were entering some kind of galaxy. And that is why I wanted to capture this moment. Of course, this photo doesn't fully show this impression. I think I would need to take a photo from a slightly different perspective to better show and emphasize the interesting architecture of this place.

However, as you can probably imagine, in a city like Warsaw I don't necessarily have time to stop and take photos. Actually, in a place like this, it would probably be impossible to stop anyway.😁

I was driving through this place very early in the morning and thanks to that, I managed to capture a moment when there wasn't a single other car on the road apart from me. And I think that in a place like Warsaw, especially on the S8 expressway, this is quite a rare sight. So I think this picture is a good match for the qurator's contest!

A FERRIS WHEEL IN TRENČÍN

This photo was taken in Trenčín, Slovakia. I went for a walk around the city and accidentally came across a local fair. And since I really like carousels and amusement rides, and the sky was incredibly blue that day, of course I couldn't just walk past without taking a few photos.

I think this white Ferris wheel contrasts beautifully with the deep blue sky. Actually, this strong contrast was probably the main reason why I decided to take this particular photo. I also liked looking at the Ferris wheel from different perspectives, because depending on the angle, the same structure can create completely different shapes and compositions.

I didn't try any of the attractions myself that day, but it was still nice to spend some time outside, walk around the fair and simply enjoy the atmosphere. Sometimes I don't need any particular destination or plan for my walks. I just go somewhere and see what I can find along the way. And quite often, these unplanned walks bring me some interesting photos.

WIND ENERGY

As a stock photographer I photograph not only beautiful views, interesting architecture or macro shots of plants. I also photograph things that are, let's say, a little more practical and not necessarily breathtaking at first sight.

One of the subjects I like to photograph is wind turbines. Despite their simplicity, I think that in some situations they can become a very interesting element of the landscape. They can look beautiful against a sunset, but also against a clear blue sky, just like in this photo.

Of course, when taking stock photos, I also try to think about their potential use. Photos like this can be useful for clients looking for images related to wind energy, renewable energy, the environment or sustainability and they can sell quite well. So sometimes a subject doesn't have to be spectacular to be worth photographing. From a stock photographer's perspective, an ordinary object can sometimes have much more commercial potential than a beautiful view.

A LITTLE CHURCH SOMEWHERE IN GERMANY

This photo of a small church was taken in Germany. While driving along the motorway, I noticed it from the road. It simply looked beautiful surrounded by this landscape. Luckily for me, there was a small parking area nearby, so without thinking too much, I immediately pulled over and took a few photos.

I have to admit that I didn’t really feel like walking any closer to it, so this time I was satisfied with the view from a distance and simply used the zoom on my phone. I also didn’t check exactly what church it was or learn anything more about it. It simply caught my eye and stole my heart.

Sometimes that is enough for me. Not every place I photograph has to become a long story or an entire photo series. Sometimes I simply see something beautiful from the road, stop for a moment, take a few photos and continue my journey. And this little church was exactly one of those moments.

A DIFFERENT SIDE OF OUR WORLD

And finally, a photo that is a little different from all the others. There is no beautiful landscape here, no stunning macro shot of a flower or an insect, but instead a photo that shows one of the problems of our modern civilization.

I won’t reveal which country this photo was taken in, because I don’t want to put any particular country in a bad light. However, travelling across Europe and through many different countries, I have to add that unfortunately, similar scenes can be found in many places.

It is sad to see how people are able to pollute their own environment. I think this is a problem on a very large scale. A photo like this should perhaps make all of us reflect for a moment and ask ourselves whether we really want to live in an environment like this.

And why does a human being, who is a conscious creature and, especially in Europe, lives in what we consider a highly developed and civilized society, still allow something like this to happen?

Maybe this is not the most beautiful photo in today’s post, but I think it may be one of the most important ones. Photography does not always have to show only the beautiful side of our world. Sometimes it can also show the things we would rather not see.
