NATURALLY TWISTED

This strange tree I found during a walk in a botanical garden in Metz (France) and it completely stopped me for a while. It didn’t look like a normal tree, much more like a sculpture made by nature itself. 🌿

Later I did a small research and learned its name – SOPHORA JAPONICA or the Japanese pagoda tree.

Usually this tree blooms in late summer with beautiful white flowers that look like small pearls. That is why in Polish it’s called "perełkowiec" – “the pearly one.”
But when I saw it it had no flowers at all. Still it looked amazing – because of its crazy, wild branches. It felt mysterious, almost magical.

Some cool facts:
– It comes from China and Japan
– It belongs to the pea family (Fabaceae)
– It grows up to 25 meters tall
– It blooms late in the season, when most other trees are already done
– It’s used in traditional Asian medicine

So even without flowers, this tree has a story to tell. Just stop and look – nature always has something to surprise you.
