MONOCHROME NATURE / MONOMAD CHALLENGE

Kopia – Essence.jpg

Some time ago I shared with you a small series of winter photos focused on nature’s frozen details. Today I’m back with the second part of that set, but this time all the shots are in black and white. The same nature but differents approach.

The idea was very simple: to reduce the scene to form, contrast and structure. Without color there is nowhere to hide. What you're left with is texture, shape and how light hits each surface. I found that this approach brings out a different kind of mood. A bit more raw and honest. Focused on the shape.

These black and white shots aren’t meant to impress with scenery or colors. They’re more of an exercise in paying attention. A curled leaf, a dried berry, a frosted edge — things we often pass by without a second glance. Things that seemingly don't matter much.

Working in monochrome helped me notice different things. The shape of decay. The way snow sticks to rough surfaces. The balance between soft and sharp.

Each frame has its own texture and rhythm, even if the subject is something as ordinary as a plant at the end of its season. That’s what I like about this type of photography — it doesn’t need much. Just a bit of time and curiosity. Because in monochrome the things looks different.
