FOUND SOMEWHERE IN THE BESKID NISKI

Kopia – Beyond the route.jpg

As usual, I’m still on the road, but today my thoughts take me back to my home country — Poland. This time we are heading to the OORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE PROTECTION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD IN WOŁOWIEC. So, it’s time for another encounter with a wooden church I came across during my trip to Beskid Niski with my friend and her family.

Ja jak zwykle nadal w trasie, ale dzisiaj myślami powracam do mojego rodzinnego kraju, czyli do Polski, a dokładniej przenosimy się do CERKWI PRAWOSŁAWNEJ OPIEKI MATKI BOŻEJ W WOŁOWCU. Czeka nas zatem kolejne spotkanie z drewnianą świątynią napotkaną podczas mojej wycieczki do Beskidu Niskiego z koleżanką i jej rodziną.

The picture above is my entry for Around The World: Challenge - #7/7

This church was the furthest from our accommodation out of all the ones I visited during that trip. I have to admit, we almost didn’t see it at all, as it was quite well hidden. At one point, we even started to wonder if we had taken the right road and were already close to turning back. In the end, we decided to drive a bit further.

And it turned out to be the right decision. The road led us directly to the church, and within moments we were there. The building is truly located off the beaten path, and there was not a single person around. As is often the case at this time of year, everything was completely closed, so we could only walk around it and admire it from the outside.

In terms of its appearance, it did not differ much from the other churches I saw in this region. I think it is most similar to the church in Kwiatoń, although of course it is just as charming as all the others. I truly regret that I was not able to go inside here either, as I suspect the interior would reveal a remarkable richness.
Like the other churches in this region, it features the characteristic three domes and was built from wood.

Here we can once again return to the former Lemko community. Churches like this are often the only things that remain after them. I’m glad that today this place is still used for worship, bringing together both believers and tourists like me. 😁 I’m really happy that we managed to reach it.

Thank you for the follow. 🙂 Hive works a little differently from many other social media platforms. That's one lovely looking church! So different from what you usually see, especially when it comes to resistance in front of the passage of time!

On many of my trips, what I think is the wrong route usually turns out to be the right one. This is actually because the road seems longer than we expected. The church looks magnificent from the outside. Its entirely wooden construction and solid appearance are striking. But as you said, these kinds of religious structures reflect the cultural heritage of the community that lived in this region in the past.

I think many of the best discoveries happen by accident. As a truck driver, I often end up in places I never planned to visit, and sometimes those unexpected stops turn out to be the most memorable ones. And yes, this church immediately caught my attention. I love visiting places like this because they are not just beautiful buildings – they also tell the story of the people and communities that once lived there.

This is my first time to see an orthodox church and it was nice. I love your work as a lady driver because you got to visit different places.
