DREAMY GARDEN MOOD

The plan for these flowers was actually a little different. They were supposed to stay in their natural color — purple. Since this week’s qurator contest theme is "purple", I thought these flowers would fit the topic perfectly. But as it turned out, I missed the posting deadline by one day. 😁
So instead I decided to let my imagination run a little wild, played around with the sliders in Lightroom and ended up creating something that, in my opinion, will fit perfectly into the "Macro" contest on PhotoFeed instead. 🙂

Meet the JAPANESE ANEMONE, a flower that completely charmed me with its delicacy during my visit to the botanical garden in Cologne last year. Despite its name suggesting Japan, its natural place of origin is actually China, and honestly, I had a bit of trouble identifying this species because the name itself confused me and I was not entirely sure whether I had identified it correctly. The flower arrived in Japan later, and from there it eventually spread across Europe.
The blooming period of the Japanese anemone falls in late summer and autumn, when most flowers are already starting to fade away. That is why it is highly valued in gardens, as it can still bring color even at the end of the season. I myself visited the garden in early autumn, so I was lucky enough to see it during its blooming period.
The name “anemone” comes from the Greek language and means “wind.” Because of this, these flowers are often called “wind flowers.” Their delicate petals move very easily even in the lightest breeze. And honestly, that would explain why I also had quite a hard time capturing proper sharpness on these flowers.
It is also worth mentioning that Japanese anemones can live in one place for many years, gradually forming expanding clumps. They handle partial shade very well and are resistant to colder temperatures.
In the language of flowers, anemones symbolize delicacy, transience, waiting, and fleeting beauty, which is why they so often appear in paintings and artistic photography.
