AMONG THE SUNFLOWERS

Checking in from Norway!
The time has finally come for my favorite flowers. Sunflower season is here, and I have to admit that I simply love looking at them. There is something about these huge yellow flowers that always catches my attention, especially when there are dozens of them growing together.
This time, I came across a relatively small sunflower field while driving through Slovakia. Of course, “small” is quite relative when we are talking about a field full of sunflowers. 😄 The moment I spotted it through the truck window, I already knew one thing — on my way back, I would have to stop there and take a few photos.
And that is exactly what I did. On the return journey, I stopped nearby, grabbed my phone and went for a short walk among the sunflowers. Luckily, I had beautiful sunny weather, although photographing yellow flowers in such strong sunlight is not always the easiest task.
One interesting thing about sunflowers is that what we usually call a single flower is actually made up of hundreds, sometimes even thousands, of tiny individual flowers. The yellow “petals” around the outside are one type, while the small flowers forming the dark center are another. After pollination, many of those tiny flowers can develop into the seeds we know so well.
I find it fascinating because from a distance a sunflower looks like one enormous, simple flower. Only when you get closer do you realize how incredibly complex its structure actually is. And perhaps that is one of the reasons why I enjoy photographing them so much — there is always something more to discover when you look at them from a little closer.

Such beautiful flowers and you've captured them nicely! Kudos! I've always thought yellow flowers to seem especially cheerful for some reason! 😊 Several years ago, there was a field of sunflowers not far from where I live, just a couple of kilometers. But they've plowed the field and have something else growing there now. It was nice while it lasted! 🌻
Thank you! 😊 That's such a lovely memory. Yellow flowers always seem to make people smile. 🌻 Luckily, my job takes me all over Europe, so every summer I come across beautiful sunflower fields in different countries. I never miss the chance to stop and take a few photos. 📸💛
