Summer hiking. Part 9. Visual story of 16 photos.
(Edited)
Good day, dear Hivean friends! Almost a month has passed since the 8th part about hiking. I just came to the most exciting thing - directly rafting down the river. But there was no time for posts, or the climate did not allow it. It's very hot, and the computer screen makes it even hotter. Therefore, I'm reluctant to turn it on.
I even use my smartphone less often - I mostly sit in the pool and eat ice cream.
But here are a few days that turned out to be a little cooler. And I decided to continue my story.
After lunch, we finally got to the program's highlight - rafting down the river in boats. But, first, there was loading. We have too many things - it seemed to me that there was no place for us here. And indeed - I had to sit on the side, hanging one leg into the water.
We also had 4 kayaks. But experienced rowers were placed there. And on our raft, there was only one full-fledged water worker - Seryozha. The others are women and children. Well, Xyusha is also our helmsman. So she was at the stern.
Finally, everyone loaded, divided places, and our adventure began. At first, moving the oar in time with everyone was difficult. But then the kids and I got used to it. Mom and Ilyushka together made up one working unit - that is, they constantly changed. An 11-year-old boy and a 70-year-old woman do not have much strength. But the other two of our dudes, 13 and 14 years old, rowed in an hour no worse than Sergei. I wasn't tired at all.
But when crossing the rapids, there were some adventures. A strong current washed us ashore, and Xyusha tried to push off from the coastal bushes. She somehow unsuccessfully grabbed a branch, and the boat twitched forward. And our captain was overboard. The boat was carried a little forward, and Ksyusha held on to a branch; she was afraid to let it go and swim after us as the current was too strong. Seryozha was not taken aback and took command. We turned around and swam against the current to Ksyusha. She shouted to us that she would not be able to swim as she had hurt her leg on a snag.
It was scary, to be honest. We had to make three passes against the current, as we were blown away all the time and failed to approach so that Xenia could climb on board. But finally, we closed the stern to her, holding out motionless for 30 seconds. And our captain was saved! At this moment, Artyom, her boyfriend, came up on a kayak, pale as a sheet. But everything was already in order. Only a bruise appeared on Ksyusha's leg. We again sailed a little back in calm water, and the second attempt to force these rapids was successful. No one else fell out of the boat; we did not capsize or even run aground. Only we were so lucky with adventures; other boats passed the rapids usually!
It is a pity that it was not possible to shoot a dangerous episode of the campaign - after all, as a member of the team, I had to work with an oar.
