Japan is so beautiful. I wish my area was as proactive about keeping the surroundings tidy instead of relying on 8 months of snow to hide our shame.

Most areas of Tokyo are clean, but there are exceptions and there is trash. Once you get into the burbs it becomes more noticeable. In general though, very clean.
Do you guys burn the trash up there?
No, we put it in the dump/landfill where the ravens tear apart the bags and the ever-present strong winds blow the garbage back into town or worse, directly into the ocean.
The hamlet finally got a fence to surround the dump, so we shall see if it has an effect on the garbage next summer.
I see. Over in Cali they build literal mountains of trash, but they have it all engineered so it stays in place.
