Weekly Drone Contest Paused
Hello all, I've decided to pause the weekly Drone Post of the week contest for a bit.
Not sure if this will be for a couple weeks, couple months or long term.
While I still enjoy viewing and commenting on all the great drone posts, the manual weekly compilation has become more of a chore than an enjoyment. My work has gotten extremely busy again, and I just need the time back to enjoy some of my other pursuits.
I've talked in the past about sharing the load or letting some others help manage the community, but I'm just not comfortable enough with the security controls on Hive, PeakD, or other front-ends to share my keys/account info. (Yes, I'm a bit of a control freak in that area.)
So, In short. The weekly drone contest is on pause until further notice.
I do hope that everyone will continue to post as I will, and I will continue to monitor the group, upvote, reblog and comment. I'm actually hoping this will give me back some time to engage with my other hobbies and with this group even more on an ad-hoc basis rather than the now tedious weekly commitment.
Man it happens and it was a great engaging platform for some cool stuff. Maybe back it off to a less frequent schedule as you can manage it. Or, a pause and retool of the support and curation of the content.
I am sure this is a growing community with the price coming down on the equipment and how awesome a perspective people can share.
If v1 became a little too much to manage, sounds like a success and v1.1 can change a little to match your availability.
Great thoughts and in alignment with where I"m at. I've had thoughts about maybe a monthly or ad-hoc challenge type of thing, in addition to change of format, etc. Very open to suggestions and ideas as I re-formulate.
The every Sat. morning for over 3 years has become a chore. I don't currently have time during the week, but do want to stay involved with it.
Thank you @ksteem for your work curating the drone contest. It is a lot of work for one person to do.
When something becomes tedious. It's a good idea to step back and take a rest. Otherwise it becomes an unpleasant chore which saps your strength.
I do take my own advice and haven't been posting much of anything on any social media network.
The only place I do visit is hive. I'm sure you'll find a break from the churn is beneficial. 👍 Keep well.

Thanks for that. I'll still be around and involved just looking to drop the weekly commit after 3 years. I need to get out and enjoy more of life outdoors myself! We'll see what ideas surface after a break.
I completely understand how life can get busy, and this needs to be something you enjoy doing, not a chore.
But you don't need to share keys, you can just give authority of the account to someone else. If you see any abuse, just remove the authority.
Yes, not willing to give up that authority in my name and what I still use as alternate account. We'll see what ideas spring up during the break.
When you feel something is a chore instead of an enjoyment, it's important to put a halt to things before it gets overwhelming. Your own mental and physical wellbeing is more important than not wanting to disappoint others.
Yes, exactly right. I know you understand from all the work you have put into the platform! I do have a tendency to over-subscribe myself, and this is a great accomplishment for me personally to set the boundary and pull back.
I need some time to close out other commitments, take some time to chill a bit.
Looking forward to getting refreshed during the break and checking ideas for a revamp.
You gotta do what you find enjoyable, we already do enough crap stuff in our life
Completely agree, l live out here in the outdoors and l fully agree - people get too distracted and they don't see the amazing world we live in. l was just thinking instead of sharing any keys couldn't you just add an account into the community and instead of you doing the curation couldn't the added person do it from his account?
Other than that - enjoy your peace and rest right now, looking forward to see the changes in the drone community!
Seems like a prudent decision for you. Burn out is real and never a fun thing to deal with.
Personally, I will continue voting with my accounts, and if something appears there in Spanish, we can give it a good vote.
Thank you for everything you have done. It is very nice of you to not only set up but also moderate and keep this community going.
All the best outside of the Hive and I look forward to any content you are able to share in the future.
I will continue to post and hopefully the engagement continues to grow!
Tks for all your regular posts and contributions to our community! Keep on posting please. I'll continue to upvote and moderate group for now, just taking a break from the weekly contests until I get a chance to breathe and figure out next steps.
