My first Triple F (Flying Florida Friday)
My First Flying Florida Friday. It was another week of great weather here in Florida. I finally had a chance to get the Drone out and take some shots of the beach.
I started here on the northern part of Daytona Beach. I also took a hint from @borniet to grab a ground shot. Not as good as his yet, but imitation is the greatest form of flattery right? I started right next to the Hard Rock Hotel. If you look closely, you can see the name on the hotel below.
Facing South. The pier sticking out in the distance of this one is the Daytona Pier.
Facing North, you can see the Halifax River (Intercoastal Waterway) on the left. It is a SaltWater River that runs for miles.
I liked the way this 180 Pano came out, view full screen to appreciate!
I also made a short video flight and a 360 pic of the area.
Here is the video link:
And even more fun, I also shot a 360 pic. This requires extra effort to pull from the Drone, and special software or uploading it to skypixel to view it in 360 mode. Check it out, you can move your mouse around to spin the views and even zoom in and out. It did get some artifacts towards the water side from the auto-stitching. I think this was from the Drone moving a bit in the wind. It was a little gusty this day as normal from the beach winds.
Click here for the link to the skypixel 360 view.
It's been awhile since I've flown and my skills are a little rusty. Still a great day for me to get out and enjoy the beach and the drone.

Today is the hottest day of the year, it seems sunny there too! great shots, the 180 degree one is incredible, out of curiosity do you need a license there or just a permit?
It depends on the flying and where. Basic rules (short version) is: All drones over a certain weight are supposed to be registered with FAA. Recreational flying is permitted within certain limits without license. Any commercial use requires UAV part 107 license from FAA (must pass UAV pilot test). Many areas here are restricted from flights, (gov sites, airports, etc.) 107 license holders can request permission to fly in the restricted areas or for height exceptions, etc. either through website, or using new LAANC near realtime request system if their drone supports it. I picked a site for this flight that was limited only to the normal 400 ft altitude limit and fell in-between the restricted flight zones near airports. I do have my 107 license, but haven't yet played with the authorization approval process. I'll let you know how that goes in a later post.
Summer+California is approaching... you're sure to film a shark there
Oh my!!!! Those are lovely pictures!!!! And yes, flattery, and flattered I am ;-)
Love that term btw: "First Flying Florida Friday"!!! For me, I'd first have to get to Florida for the first time ;-) (Or even to the US for that matter :-D )

Wow, that is pretty awesome. You are lucky that you can fly it like that near the ocean. Most of the places in Michigan where you would want to fly it like State Parks it is illegal. I have a couple nicer drones in my office, but I need to get the proper license to fly them I think. We have a small airport just down the road that farmers use too, so that probably mucks things up as well.
