Last Vermont Sublime Sunday

avatar

This will be our last Sublime Sunday in Vermont. Heading to Florida next week on a cross country move about 1,400 miles away. The movers arrive Monday to finish the packing (we've got 70% done), then we close on the house and start driving Wed afternoon.

?
It will be a nice change for sure, but still some things we'll miss. This waterfall and the nearby creek are two of them.

I will miss looking out at the meadow the most. It's beautiful not just in the winter snow, but of course the spectacular fall colors.

I will miss hauling and stacking firewood just a bit. While I actually found it calming and relaxing mentally, the physical every week was starting to get tiring and a bit tedious.

I would haul about 4-5 wheelbarrow's a week from woodshed to this stack to heat the house. It kept it nice and toasty, which we love, but it will be nice to free up that hour or two every weekend.

Betty will of course miss the snow. She loves playing in the snow, laying in the snow, eating the snow. Not going to see much of that in the heat of Florida.

Here below you can see the new quilting workshop in the background. I never did get a chance to upload those videos of it getting put in. I will still have that on my list.

I won't miss the 16 or 20 or more inch snowfalls. We are not into the winter sports much anymore. While I did enjoy the showshoeing for a bit. I'm much more a snorkel and scuba kind of guy. So goodbye meadow, goodbye creek, goodbye waterfall and long backyard hikes. There are many other more pressing personal matters driving the move, but I won't go into those here.

On to the next adventure we go. While there are definitely some things we will be sad to leave here, there will also be many new things to explore and experience there. Next postings will be from new and exciting locations.

Have a great Sublime Sunday!

I wish you luck on your move! I hope everything goes well. After our time in Vermont this past fall, I can totally understand why you would miss it so much. It was one of the best times I have shared with my wife in our 15 years of marriage!

We have definitely enjoyed it, and will miss many of the things here. I'm sure we will also have many new things we like down there. Really looking forward to being 15 minutes from the ocean beach, walking in the sand vs. snow and catching the sunrise across the ocean.

I can't argue with your reasons at all. I'm the sort of person that really enjoys being by water even though I am not the type to lay around on the beach. It sounds like you have some wonderful things in store for you at your new location!

I was watching video and truly mesmerized by the flowing of water.

I think I am like Betty because I also want to play and lay in the snow but cannot eat it 😂

You are moving again already? Did you not move in that house only a few years ago? We have a saying in Germany: "Moving 3 times is the same as being burned down once."
But hey, if you want it that way, go for it. It will be a lot warmer there, thats for sure.

Yes, it's only been 2 1/2 years. Thought this was our last home and move, was just getting everything the way we wanted it. Life Happens and mainly due to some family health along with other reasons, moving down closer to family and friends. It is definitely a bit sad to leave it, but also looking forward to walks on the beach, snorkeling again, and shifting the balance of Sun vs cloudy. Hoping this one will really be the final move..

Thanks. I will miss hearing "my" Ravens cawing in the mornings. Looking forward to all the Florida wildlife for new photo ops.

That's a big change for sure. We just got back from Florida after a few months of vacation. I love it for winter vacations but would find it hard to live there when the heat and humidity arrive.

Good luck with the move and I hope the personal matters get straightened out and Florida ends up fitting you like a glove.

What a magnificent place you had. I hope your new home suits you as well!

We will definitely be huddling by the AC in the summer, lol. I will certainly miss the wonderful space and land here. Going from 62 acres to a quarter acre community lot. It will be more convenient for stores, restaurants, healthcare, and of course the ocean with all it's benefits. Hardest thing will be missing the meadow view in the mornings and hearing nothing but the geese fly over in the mornings.

I didn't realize that your place sat on 62 acres, that's a lot of property to take care of. Change is good and to leave what you had must have been a tough decision.
I know that you have a drone and were able to fly it around your place, I wonder if you'll be able to fly it at your new place without upsetting your neighbors?
While we were in Florida we visited a lot of parks that encompassed lots of acres which should allow you to enjoy this hobby.

Again, good luck with the move.

I haven't researched the drone situation fully yet, but it looks like home and many areas will need permission and flight tower coordination and approval because there are just so many airports nearby and all over the state really.

It doesn't sound like these requirements are going to stop you from doing your thing.
