Incredible Ibis Monday SMAP round 254
Here are some more pics from my New Year's trip to the swamp in our local State Park. This time with a focus on Ibis. This will also be my entry to this week's #SMAP 254 contest with a free theme this week.
This one is a Juvenile Ibis with the varied brown and white colors. When mature in another few months, they will turn all white like some of the others pics you may see.
I've really been enjoying the diversity of wildlife here in Florida. Some of my favorites are all the birds down here, including many large birds. Photographing large birds is quite different than photographing the little yard sparrows, robins and bluejays. I found that many of my pics were cutting off parts of their heads or other parts, and had to keep zooming out to ensure I had everything in frame.

This will be just a handful of the many images I captured that day. I'm sure I'll crop some down even closer and maybe do some post sharpening to print a couple, but all these are just straight off the camera, just resizing down to fit on PeakD.

Well there you have it. I hope you enjoyed these as much as I enjoyed the day out taking them.

What a beautiful bird, I have never seen it so close and with so much definition and even less live, it must be a great experience, besides, as you mention it is not the same to take a photo of a sparrow than of a bird of this size or bigger. You also have to have great patience in waiting for the right moment for each photo and in this composition you have done a great job.
The face of the ibis is spectacular, its plumage and the poses near the water are very good. You have had great models for your photos. Thank you very much for bringing this wonder of nature, a big hug!

That's funny about the large birds and needing to zoom out. It makes a lot of sense! Great shots as always. I am glad you have found some nice spots to relax and enjoy near your new home!
Yes, definitely still loving it here. We did have a little cold spell got down to 33 degrees F last night, but at least no more snow and ice to worry about. Just a heavy jacket to walk the dog.
I heard about that. My inlaws were down in Florida for the weekend. They are probably on a plane home about right now.
Hey these are some cool looking fowl! Wonderfully photographed too with the depth of field and neat lighting. A day out connecting with wild life is perfect and sharing them with us via Hive shares the love!
Lighting could be better for sure. That big zoom only goes down to 5.6 and I didn't have my tripod or monopod that I normally use to steady it. I do love the depth of field background blur that happens with the longer lenses.

Beautiful birds, we have similar ones but they are all white... Nice closeups!
These will normally turn white as they get a little older. These just happened to be the two I could get closest to.
I loved your photos. What a beautiful bird, and how wonderful that you were able to enjoy the natural environment where they live.
Best regards @ksteem, and thank you for sharing them, so that we too can learn to identify them and admire them.
Tks for taking the time to comment and vote.
I just love seeing all the pics from others here.
Great photos! I really liked them.👍
Thank you, means a lot coming from you with all your wonderful pics!
Absolutely stunning photos. I can imagine how many you have made. 🙂
Thanks! It was such a nice break for me to get out that day. Planning to get out again this weekend.
