Tze Chiang Ltd. Express EMU3000, Has Become my Favorite Train in Taiwan
My first Train Spotting blog! Whats up, my Hive people! Today, I'm heading to Yilan County 宜蘭 a rural place 2 hours away from Taipei.
This is a random trip, as I have been waiting for a very good weather to visit Yilan. I thought that this is the best day to go!
So I just grabbed my things and head straight to the train station without any concrete plan.
To my surprise, I'm gonna be riding my favorite train in Taiwan! The EMU3000 of Tze Chiang Ltd. Express.
This train requires passengers to buy a ticket unlike the TRA or other trains in Taiwan that you may use prepaid card.

So I had to approach the conductor inside the train to purchase a ticket. Unfortunately, the train seats are fully booked so I had to sit on the floor. Again.
Yes, this often happen to me in Taiwan. It is either because I'm off for impromptu trip or I get caught of rush hours. (No, I just dont really book my trips in adwance) 🤣🤣
The picture below was when I climbed Yushan.

This train simply looks premium to me for cheap tickets. I like the black and white theme, it gives the train a premium and clean ambiance.
It is a relatively new train of Taiwan that was put in service last 2021. Taiwan has 5 EMU classes operated by Taiwan Railway, this is the latest.
Compared to its predecesors, EMU3000 is fast but not shaky. Riding it almost feel like the Taiwan High Speed Train.
All seats has train directory where passengers can find where are the essential things in the trai is like charging spots, exits, extinguishers, etc.
They also have onboard food and drinks. Yes, thay do allow eating inside.
It has PWD friendly spacious toilet looking like a hotel toilet haha!
Touchless sliding glass doors.
Brestfeeding rooms.
Space for Wheelchaired PWD with wheel attachments and smalldesk and a window view!
The view:
Finally, I've got a seat after most people get off in one touristy station.
And I can finally see the view of western Taiwan sea.
I rarely travelled by train when I was in Taiwan as buses were much cheaper. I think I caught the HSR a couple of times, the first when I went to a Steemit meetup in TPE in 2017 not long after I joined the chain. It was expensive!! I went to the east side once by train and I took the rural train slowly taking in the scenery
Agree! But I prefer trains as I find it easier going to the train stations than the bus stations. (因為我的中文不好🥲)
Yes,HSR is expensive! though it saves a lot of time. My next option from HSR is this EMU3000 when Im not in a rush going from south to north and vice versa.
Indeed, east side has the best scenery.
Ganda po ng sundo mong train. 😁
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! oo nga po, nagulat ako sinipag mag drive tatay ko. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
