Wat Udom Mongkol, Chiang Mai, Thailand : A temple that is over 100 years old.
Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. In this post, I will take friends to visit another temple in Chiang Mai province. This temple is in Fang District. There is a temple over 100 years old along highway 107, the Chiang Mai - Fang route. This temple is called Wat Udom Mongkol.
The brief history of Wat Udom Mongkol. Wat Udom Mongkol was granted officially permitted to be established as a temple in AD 1887 or 138 years ago. And the temple received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree in AD 1969 or 56 years ago.
You travel from Muang District to Fang District on highway 107. When arriving at Fang District. You will see a temple with a beautiful and striking arch on the roadside. It is the entrance arch to Wat Udom Mongkol.
This arch is large. Made of bricks and spread cement on bricks. This arch is decorated with silver and gold color patterns. And the small 12-headed Naga. The top of the arch has three small pagodas.
On this trip, my wife and I visited this temple. The atmosphere of our journey to the temple and the area in front of the temple.

Before my wife and I enter the temple, on the left of this arch, we see a large buddha image. This buddha image is called Phra Chao Than Jai.
And on the right side of the arch we will see a large temple sign.
When we entered the Wat Udom Mongkol, we saw a large buddha image hall (viharn), this buddha image hall (viharn) looked grand. The buddha image hall (viharn) made of bricks and spread cement on bricks. Decorated with white, silver and gold color patterns. And on the roof of this buddha image hall (viharn) is the spire of the Thai castle. On the stair railing of the front entrance to the buddha image hall (viharn) are two white Naga statues.
On both side the stairs of the buddha image hall (viharn) are two giant statues.
Before entering the buddha image hall (viharn) gate, there is the small buddha images.
Inside this buddha image hall (viharn) there is the main buddha image in the attitude of subduing mara and other buddha images in the attitude of subduing mara.
In addition the inside of the buddha image hall (viharn) is decorated with golden patterns, which tells the story of the last great incarnation of the Buddha.
On the right side of the buddha image hall (viharn) are two pavilions. The first pavilion has a buddha image in the attitude of subduing mara.
The second pavilion has a statue that some Thai people worship.
On the left side of the buddha image hall (viharn) is the buildings for monks. In front of a building is a statue of Phra Chao Tan Jai of the Tai-Yai people (ethnic group in Thailand).
Behind the buddha image hall (viharn) is a pagoda. This pagoda is a hexagonal pagoda. The top of the pagoda is shaped like a gold color bell with tierred umbrella. And there is also a small pagoda in the area of this pagoda.
In front of the buddha image hall (viharn) is the courtyard.
Finally a large Erawan elephant statue with Indra on top of this Erawan elephant statue.
Besides is section containing the monks' living quarters. But I didn't take photos. These are the stories and photos I want to share for this post.
