Wat San Thanon, A small temple over 100 years old in a rural community, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. In this post, I'll take everyone to see a small temple in a rural community in Chiang Mai province. This temple is called Wat San Thanon. I have visited more than 100 temples in my country. And Wat San Thanon is the 116th temple that I have visited and shared with everyone. My wife and I visited Wat San Thanon in February, before the air pollution problem in Chiang Mai. Wat San Thanon is a small temple located in San Thanon village, Pa Tum subdistrict, Phrao district.

Brief information about the temple. Wat San Thanon is an old temple. There is no information on the construction and royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree of this temple. But Wat San Thanon was officially granted permission to be established as a temple in 1981 or 145 years ago.

San Thanon Village is a rural village located on a rural road in Phrao district. Most of the people in this village are farmers and Buddhists. I take photos of the atmosphere in some areas of San Thanon village before reaching Wat San Thanon.

The atmosphere at Wat San Thanon. Because this is a small temple, There is not much space. Within the temple areas, so there are only a buddha image hall (viharn), a small buddha image pavilion, a large pavilion for religious ceremonies and section containing the monks' living quarters. The architecture and sculptures in the temple are built in the Lanna art style.
