Wat Chiang Man, Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai, Thailand, An old temple over 100 years old in a rural community.

Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. This post I will take my friends to see another old temple in the Lanna art style (Northern art). This temple is called Wat Chiang Man. Wat Chiang Man is the 91st temple that I will share with everyone. This Chiang Man Temple is located in Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province. This temple is different from WatcChiang Man in Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province and Wat Chiang Man in Chiang Rai Province. Before we look at the temple's atmosphere, I would like to share brief information about this temple.
Wat Chiang Man is a common monastery of local Thai in the Muang Ngai community. This temple is more than 100 years old. The temple was built before AD 1887 and completed in AD 1887 or 138 years ago. And in AD 1898 or 127 years ago, the temple was officially permitted to be established as a temple. And royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree of Wat Chiang Man received in AD 1947 or 78 years ago. These are some interesting information about this temple.

This trip, I visited the temple with my wife. The distance from our house to the temple is about 58 kilometers. It took us about 1 hour and 10 minutes to this journey. From our district through Chai Prakan district to Chiang Dao district. The sky was overcast that day. Some atmospheres of the trip.

Wat Chiang Man is a temple in the town of the community. The temple is located in an alley approximately 100 meters from highway 1178. In front of the alley there is an arch made of bricks with spread cement on bricks and painted white. Decorated with gold color stucco patterns with red. There is a temple sign on top of the arch.

When we arrived at the temple, on the wall surrounding the temple there were many small statues of angels. And lion statues on the four corner pillars.

This temple has two entrances. The main entrance has an arch. The arch is made of wood in the Lanna style. There is also a temple sign on the arch.

In addition, there is a lion statue on a pillar at the entrance. The lion statues is also made in the Lanna art style.

The other entrance to the temple has no arch. There are only two lion statues.

When we walked through the main entrance into the temple, we saw a bell tower on the right. This bell tower is a two-story bell tower. Below the bell tower is a mini artificial waterfall. There is a bell at the top. And the area behind this bell tower is section containing the monks' living quarters.

The highlight architecture of the temple, there are 3 architectures : ordination hall (ubosot), buddha image hall (viharn) and pagoda. These architectures are built in a unique Lanna art style.

The ordination hall (ubosot), This ordination hall (ubosot) is made of bricks with spread cement on bricks and painted white. Decorated with white stucco patterns with red at front, door and windows. On the entrance stairs there is two serpent statues. And there is a low wall around the ordination hall (ubosot). On the wall are small statues of angels.

The buddha image hall (viharn), this buddha image hall (viharn) is larger than the ordination hall (ubosot) but has no surrounding walls. Made of bricks with spread cement on bricks and painted white like the ordination hall (ubosot). Different in the decoration of stucco patterns. And color of the pattern.

The pagoda is located behind the buddha image hall (viharn). There is a wall surrounding the pagoda and three entrance arches. Which is the arches decorated with beautiful patterns. There are umbrellas on the four corners of the wall too.
The gold color pagoda has a square base. The center of the pagoda is a polygonal shape. And the top of the pagoda is a bell shape with tierred umbrella.

Inside the temple there is another medium-sized pavilion too.

Although Wat Chiang Man is a small temple in a rural community, But this temple is another temple in the Lanna art style that is unique and beautiful.
