Visit Wat Sri Dong Yen with the local tradition festival in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.

Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. Today I go to Chai Prakan District again. This time I go with my wife and granddaughter. Today at Wat Sri Dong Yen there is a traditional festival. So my wife and I wanted to take our granddaughter to see the traditional festival today. This traditional festival is only in the morning. So we go to Wat Si Dong Yen early in the morning. Wat Sri Dong Yen is about 14 kilometers from our house. The sky was overcast this morning, as it has been every day this week.

Wat Sri Dong Yen is a large common temple. The temple is located in Sri Dong Yen Subdistrict, Chai Prakan District, Chiang Mai Province. In AD 1937 or 87 years ago, this temple was allowed to be established as a temple. And the temple received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree in AD 1977 or 47 years ago.

When we arrived at Wat Sri Dong Yen. I parked the car in the courtyard outside the temple. And walked to the temple. The area in the courtyard outside the temple has many shops. Which only sell traditional festival on this day. Additionally, there is an area for children as well.

There were many people in the temple. Today only the buddha image hall (viharn) is open. Normally, the buddha image hall (viharn) is not open. But buddha image hall (viharn) will only open on buddhist holy days or traditional festival. So we had the opportunity to see the beauty in this buddha image hall (viharn). The outside and inside of the buddha image hall (viharn) are very beautiful. Especially inside the buddha image hall (viharn) there are many beautiful buddha images. The main buddha image is a large buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara. The inside of the buddha image hall (viharn) is decorated with oil paintings. And all the oil paintings look beautiful too. We entered the buddha image hall (viharn) when the religious ceremony had not yet started. So there were no people in the buddha image hall (viharn).

Some people perform religious ceremonies in large pavilions. Some people walked or sat in the temple courtyard.

Today there are many money trees offered to the temples to support and restore the temples. Each money tree is beautifully decorated.

People keep on coming to the temple and more. Some people come to make merit and participate in religious ceremonies. Some people come to show at traditional festival. Today there are many local Thai shows on traditional festival. Especially thai traditional dance from many villages, both adults and children. And thai traditional music show.
