Hello everyone. 😊 Chiang Dao District is another district near the district where I live. This district is another rural district in Chiang Mai that has beautiful and fascinating nature. In addition to beautiful nature, Chiang Dao District also has many beautiful and interesting temples. This post, I will take everyone to see the temples in Chiang Dao District. A small rural temple with not much space. But this temple is an old temple with buddha image hall (viharn) of temple that is interesting. This temple is called Wat Sri Don Chai.

Brief information about Wat Sri Don Chai.
Wat Sri Don Chai is an old temple that is more than 200 years old. And this temple is a common monastery. There is no information on when the temple was built. But this temple was allowed to be established as a temple in AD 1767 or 257 years ago. And the temple received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree in AD 1867 or 157 years ago.

Journey to Wat Sri Don Chai.
My wife and I had the opportunity to visit this temple last month. We ran errands in Mae Rim District. And this temple is on the way home. I also took some pictures of the scenery along the way.

We see the sign of the temple on the roadside first. Behind the sign of temple is a large wooden arch. This large wooden arch is about 200 meters from the temple wall and entrance.

This wooden arch is built in Lanna style (Ancient Northern). And has a clear Lanna unique. Inside the large wooden arch are also two angel statues.

On the pillars of the wall between the entrances inside the temple. There are two lion statues like other temples we have visited. But the shape is different.

Inside the temple is an outdoor courtyard with trees. There is a bell tower and section containing the monks' living quarters inner the outdoor courtyard.

And there is sacred architecture that is the highlight of the temple, namely the buddha image hall (viharn). But there is no ordination hall (ubosot) or stupa. The buddha image hall (viharn) located is outer outdoor courtyard.
This buddha image hall (viharn) is more than 100 years old, built of bricks plastered with cement and painted white. And the buddha image hall (viharn) is also built and decorated in an outstanding Lanna style and has a clear unique as well.
I think this buddha image hall (viharn) is an old and interesting buddha image hall (viharn). And the buddha image hall (viharn) is worth preserving for future generations. But unfortunately, that day the buddha image hall (viharn) was not open for us to see the beautiful inside the buddha image hall (viharn).

Another interesting thing about this buddha image hall (viharn) is the statue on the stair railing of the buddha image hall (viharn) entrance, which is different from other temples.
Most temples in Thailand have serpent statues. But this temple is a lion statues and has a serpent's tail. My wife and I are interested and like in these statues.

Finally, a large pavilion used for religious ceremonies. Inside the pavilion is a buddha image in the attitude of subduing mara.
