Hello everyone. Two days ago, me and my wife had the opportunity to visit a local traditional event in northern Thailand at Tham Tap Tao Temple. This temple is located in Chai Prakan District, Chiang Mai Province. We read information from a local facebook page in Chai Prakan District that this temple held a local traditional event. So we intended to travel to this temple.

Even though this temple is in another district. But the distance from our house to this temple is only about 16 kilometers. It took us to travel about 30 minutes to get to this temple that day. We can travel on rural road from our house to this temple. But that day we traveled on the highway in our district before entering the rural road in Chai Prakan District to get to this temple. Because we have to send our son and granddaughter to school first.

I drove slowly to take my wife to the temple. Because we want to see the atmosphere while traveling as well. Especially the atmosphere of the rural roads in Chai Prakan District, which is the farm atmosphere of the local people. Of course I also took pictures of the atmosphere on the street to share with everyone. Before seeing the atmosphere in the temple, Take a look at the atmosphere on the road first. Let's go.

The area in front of the temple is a large garden. There are many shops in this garden. And these shops only sell for this traditional event.

The atmosphere of the traditional event at Tham Tap Tao Temple has many people joining in traditional religious ceremonies. Both local Thai people and local Tai Yai people in Chai Prakan District.
When everyone who joined the traditional event arrived at the temple. Everyone will make merit and give offerings to the monks in the buddha image hall (viharn) first.
Then some people sat and waited for other ceremony of the tradition that had not yet begun. And some people walk around to see the atmosphere in the temple.
Most of the area of this temple is a garden with many large trees and is adjacent to a mountain. The architecture in the temple there are only buddha image hall (viharn) and pagoda. Which the pagoda is being built.
The buddha image hall (viharn) is made entirely of wood. And this buddha image hall (viharn) is a simple buddha image hall (viharn) with no decorative patterns. But inside the buddha image hall (viharn) there are many beautiful buddha statues.

The highlight of the temple are the two caves in the mountains. And the stairs leading up to the cave have many roofs. These roofs are made in the style of a buddha image hall (viharn) or ordination hall (ubosot). There is a pond near the stairs leading up too. This pond has many fish and can feed fish.

The first cave is named Tham Chaeng. This cave looks like a large hall. On the ceiling of the cave there is a gap where light can shine into the cave.
Inside the cave are many old buddha statues. And there is a large beautiful main buddha image and a beautiful reclining buddha image.

The second cave was a dark cave, located on the same mountain but about 25 meters apart. While walking from the first cave to the second cave, there are many sculptures. And we can see the atmosphere in the temple below as well.

This time we did not enter the dark cave. Because we must ask permission before entering the cave to turn on the neon lights inside the cave. And we've been to this cave about 4 times. The last time was many years ago. Inside the dark cave are beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Additionally, this cave is a long and wide cave. There are many sculptures inside and at the end of the cave is a pagoda called Chedi Nim.

Another atmosphere at the traditional event at the temple that day included animal dance show of the Tai Yai people. It was another enjoyable show and I liked it.
