Visit and enjoy Wat Pa Daraphirom, Chiang Mai Province Thailand, a beautiful thai temple and has a unique and outstanding northern architecture.

Hello everyone. Mae Rim District, Chiang Mai Province is a large district next to Mueang Chiang Mai District. This district has many tourist attractions and temples. This post, I share a temple in Mae Rim District, this temple is a beautiful temple in Lanna style architecture (Art of Northern Thailand). And is an important and famous temple of Chiang Mai Province. This temple is called Wat Pa Daraphirom (Pa Daraphirom Temple.).

The area of ​​Wat Pa Daraphirom used to be an abandoned cemetery in the past. This temple was originally named Wat Pa Wiwek Chittaram. And in A.D. 1941 the heir of the consort of King Rama V of Thailand (This consort's name is Chao Dararasami) donated land to the temple, which was within the royal palace area of ​​Chao Dararasami Palace. Then the name of the temple was changed to the name Wat Pa Daraphirom until now.

Me and my wife visited Wat Pa Daraphirom 9 years ago, we were impressed and fascinated by the beautiful of this temple. When we went on an errand in Mueang Chiang Mai District, we wanted to visit this temple again. The distance from my house to this temple is about 125 kilometers. But this time we traveled from Mueang District to Mae Rim District.

I drove from Muang District along Highway 107 to Mae Rim District. Until reaching the Mae Rim District Office and going straight for about 120 meters, we will see a traffic light. Then turn left and drive straight for about 220 meters, cross the Mae Sa Canal Bridge and turn left after getting off the bridge. And drive straight about 300 meters to the temple.

When the driver reaches the front of the temple. Me and my wife saw the beautiful of the temple from outside the temple before I parked the car. The entrance to the temple in front of this area will not have an arch, but there will be a large white lion statue and a large giant statue lacquered with various colorful patterns beautifully.

When we entered the temple grounds. Even though my wife and I visited this temple 9 years ago but we can't remember what architecture and sculptures this temple has inside. We only remember how beautiful this temple was and we wanted to visit it again.

We see the first Buddha image hall (viharn) in front of the entrance. This buddha image hall (viharn) is a Lanna art style architecture and the exterior is gilded lacquered with various beautiful patterns. In front of the buddha image hall (viharn) there is a stairway to the entrance in the shape of a white serpent.

Inside the buddha image hall (viharn) there are many beautiful buddha images and the principal buddha image of the buddha image hall (viharn) is a buddha image in the posture of meditation in Sukhothai art, this principal Buddha image is named Phra Sayamphu Lokkanat. All the inner pillars are gilded lacquered. And inside the buddha image hall (viharn) there are beautiful Buddhist paintings.

The ordination hall (ubosot) of this temple is also beautiful but is not open to people or tourists to visit and worship.

The pagoda of this temple is outstanding, inside the pagoda there are 4 replicas of the Buddha's footprints. In addition, there are many brass buddha images and other buddha images inside this pagoda. The red interior pillars are gilded lacquered with beautiful patterns and Buddhist art paintings on the walls.

In front of the pagoda there is a castle-like pavilion, the roof is a Lanna style art.

As we walk behind the castle-like pavilion, We will find another Lanna style pavilion. Inside the Lanna-style pavilion, there is a statue of King Rama V. of Thailand and Chao Dara Rasamee (the consort of King Rama V). And statues of deities who protect Thailand.

The amazingness of this temple also has a large buddha image hall (viharn) that looks grand. The top of the roof has a castle-like peak.

Inside the large buddha image hall (viharn), there are many beautiful Buddha images similar the first buddha image hall (viharn). And the interior decoration is similar to the first buddha image hall (viharn) as well.

Additionally, within the temple there is a buddha image hall (viharn), pavilion and other buildings, which are not open to tourists. So I took pictures from outside those architectures.

Although Wat Pa Daraphirom has many architectures, the overall atmosphere in the temple still has large trees that look shady. And many buddha statues outside the building and architecture. And the memorial of King Naresuan.
