Visit a traditional northern Thai event at a temple with my wife and granddaughter (Wat Nong Khwang, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand).

Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. My wife and I took my granddaughter to visit a traditional event in northern Thailand at a temple in our district. This time people from our village also had a northern Thai traditional dance show at this traditional event. This temple is called Wat Nong Khwang. Wat Nong Khwang is in Mae Soon Subdistrict. This temple is about 5.2 kilometers from our home. And the temple is located on a rural road. So this time our journey was on a rural road. We through three rural villages and many farms. Most of these farms are rice fields.

The atmosphere of our journey the morning. The atmosphere is nice with the clear sky. It's another beautiful day.

When we arrived at the temple, there were a lot of people and we couldn't park inside the temple. So we parked our car about 700 meters away from the temple. Before entering the temple, there are many shops and a mini amusement park outside the temple.

But we arrived at Wat Nong Khwang late. Some religious ceremonies have already begun. And shows too. So we went to the temple first. We walked past the shops and didn't walk around the shop area yet.
When we entered the temple, there was the northern Thai traditional dance shows from many villages. And some of the shows had already finished.
Unfortunate some religious ceremonies in the morning were completed before we reached the temple. So we didn't get to see some religious ceremonies.

The vibe of the morning shows at this traditional event. There were people from our village with wife's aunt and other villages joining in the northern Thai traditional dance and other dance too. Enjoy and be lively with many people, Both local Thai people and ethnic groups.

In late morning there are some religious ceremonies in the ordination hall (ubosot), buddha image hall (viharn) and pavilion for religious ceremonies. But in some areas, it was not convenient for me to take photos. It disturbed the religious ceremony. So I did not take photos of all the religious ceremony.

Ordination hall (ubosot), there was a religious ceremony inside ordination hall (ubosot) but I was unable to take photos.

A pavilion for religious ceremonies, but the religious ceremonies had not yet begun at that time.

Finally we walked around the shops area. Which is outside the temple. And bought some drinks and meatballs to eat before lunch. Then take our granddaughter to play in a mini amusement park.

These are the stories and photos of traditional event in northern Thailand at Wat Nong Khwang that I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Please forgive any errors/mistakes. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗

This post captures such a wonderful glimpse of Thai culture and community life. I really like how you shared not just the event itself, but also the simple beauty of the journeylike passing through rice fields, rural villages, and seeing people gather for something meaningful.

Even though you arrived a bit late and missed some ceremonies, it’s nice that you were still able to witness the traditional dance performances and feel the festive atmosphere.

It’s heartwarming that you experienced this moment with your wife and granddaughter too. Visits like this are not only cultural but also a way of passing on values and appreciation for tradition to the younger generation. Thank you for sharing a story that beautifully connects family, faith, and community in one meaningful visit.
