Join the northern tradition ceremony (slakkapatat tradition) at Wat Wiang Chai Khiriwong (temple).

Hello everyone. Today me and my wife joined a northern traditional event in the district where we live again. The tradition of the offering dedicated food, necessary things and money to monks in the temple and monks from other temples who come to participate in rituals at the temple that hosts the traditional (slakkapat), With the condition that each monk will draw lots to receive food, necessary things and money from each person who makes merit.
Today we went to a temple near our village. This temple is called Wat Wiang Chai Khiriwong. This temple is a village temple of Dong Mitraphap Village, Mae Kha Subdistrict, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province. This village is adjacent to the village where we live. When me and my wife finished sending our son and granddaughter off to school. We went home and changed clothes and go to the temple.

In this post, I want to share the atmosphere of the tradition slakkapat and some of the atmosphere in the temple with everyone. When we arrive this temple. Me and my wife make merit first. Then we see the traditional event and took pictures of the atmosphere in the temple and the traditional event.
This temple has 2 zones. The first zone is the lawn in front of the temple. There are many shops in the lawn area. And in this area there will be a temple wall. Which is built similar the ancient city wall of Thailand in ancient times.

This lawn area near the wall is still built to resemble the houses and way of life of ancient times. And there are also paper lantern decorations from northern Thailand on the temple wall.

The atmosphere inside zone 2 (temple zone). This area has a buddha image hall (viharn). Which is where religious ceremonies and tradition are performed on this day. This buddha image hall (viharn) is built and decorated with stucco patterns in the Lanna style.
Inside the buddha image hall (viharn) there is the beautiful main buddha statue and other buddha statues. And the walls are decorated with beautiful Buddhist paintings.

At the back of the buddha image hall (viharn) there is a large pagoda of temple. This pagoda has a foundation with stairs leading up on 4 sides. The middle of the pagoda is a square room. And the top of the pagoda is in the shape of a bell.

On the side of the buddha image hall (viharn) there are buddha statues, sculptures of monks and the Thai zodiac.

Other atmosphere in the temple for today's traditional ceremony at the temple. There is a large tent to place plastic baskets from various temples that join the traditional event to people to offer dried food, snacks and bottled drinks in these plastic baskets.

The tent and large pavilion for placing the money trees of people join the traditional ceremony. On the walls of this large pavilion, there are many paintings depicting the villagers' way of life with religion.

Of course, every traditional event at various temples will have thai traditional dance shows. Today Wat Wiang Chai Khiriwong has many thai traditional dancers from other villages.
