Halloween 2025 in Botanical Garden, There are Pumpkins Everywhere

I am a contented person. One reason for this is that I live in a place that I like. I live in one of those prefabricated buildings on the horizon. But the photo was taken across the pond in the botanical garden, which is literally within sight of my window.

In addition to the pond, you can also see a crowd of people on the "pier." What's going on here?

You can take a photo here with a plastic figure representing... I don't actually know what it represents.

But there is a lot of interest in taking photos with her. Could you resist? It's true that parents and grandparents in particular take photos of small children there.

You can also take a photo with a witch. Yes. We are at the annual pumpkin exhibition organized by the Prague Botanical Garden on the occasion of Halloween.

Last year, I tried to photograph individual places without people. But this year, I gave up. People are everywhere. Not just locals. You can hear every language in the world here. It seems that today, this place is a global attraction.

It seems that exhibitors are fond of spiders and cobwebs this year.

But I mustn't forget that there is a lot to see in the botanical garden, even when there are no people and no exhibitions. Autumn is the most colorful season possible.

Another motif here is hats. Witch hats. I should decide whether to photograph individual locations or the expressions on the children's faces at those locations.

And I mustn't forget the pumpkins. There are thousands of pumpkins in dozens of different piles. On this cross there is a sign pointing to the "pumpkin exhibition." Menhirs stand impassively in the background.

But back to those witch hats. If you think there's some iron monster made of tanks and pipes standing here, you're right. But it's been here for at least twenty years. That's art, I don't understand it.

It is impossible to visit Prague and not take a photo with a pile of pumpkins.

Some arrangements are imaginative, others less so. But the children had quite a lot of fun here. And parents have fun when their children have fun.

I remember some of the sculptures from last year. Like this terrifying bird.

"Please do not climb on the exhibits. Thank you." But small children cannot read. Of course, parents should supervise them. But that is not always possible.

These larger-than-life beetles are part of the botanical garden's permanent inventory. They are made of concrete and can withstand practically anything. My son is already 14. But I remember that at that age, he also had to explore everything and climb everywhere.

I think I've had enough of pumpkins this year. I'm not even going to the lower part of the garden, where pumpkin beer, pumpkin wine, pumpkin distillate, and pumpkin pies will be on offer. And there are pumpkins everywhere.

There are also several restaurants in the botanical garden. I assume they will now start offering pumpkin dishes at a discount. I'll probably go there soon. From tomorrow, there will be fewer people here again.

I used Deepl.com to translate into English.

We went to some similarly decorated forests over the past couple of weekends! Prague seems to invest more in celebrating Halloween than Bucharest does (which I like). I'm curious about those jellyfish - I keep seeing them in shows and decorations around Prague - do they mean anything special for Czech culture?

I don't think it was a big investment for us. The botanical garden runs this attraction every year. What is on display there is stored. They grow the pumpkins themselves and don't throw them away. The botanical garden is connected to the zoo. Beekeeping is part of the botanical garden.
The botanical garden organizes a number of events that I enjoy attending. I'm glad to have it here.
No, I've never seen jellyfish anywhere in Prague. I don't know if @godfish was your guide in Prague. If you were here alone, you may have been absorbed by the tourism industry and visited places and seen things that we locals don't visit or see.

Rest assured, @honeydue isn't the kind of gal to get absorbed by the tourism industry, whether she's guided by me or not. However, she did visit places and see things many locals don't. As for the disputed creatures, there's always something fishy in our jelly :)) Kinda an in joke, apparently :))

Ano, i když má Praha relativně málo obyvatel, je velká.
