Summer Scenery: Round Hay Bales in the Field

This is one of my favourite summer scenes in my area. As soon as I see the round hay bales, I want to take photos, but sometimes I forget to bring my phone with me. This time, before going for a walk with my dog in the morning, I had a feeling that I might want my phone to take some pictures. However, I still forgot to bring it.

Then I came across this beautiful view at my favourite spot. I felt a little disappointed. On the other hand, I also felt very lucky to witness such beautiful scenery all by myself with my dog.

I often think of Vincent van Gogh's paintings whenever I see the colour of the hay bales. It's amazing how he captured colours like these in his paintings. I wish I could have witnessed the moment he mixed those colours together to create the beautiful golden colour of dried hay.

This scenery is absolutely gorgeous, isn't it? Yes, there is almost nothing here except nature. There are birds and wild animals, and sometimes I don't hear any cars at all. Everything is so quiet and peaceful. Even the summer ocean breeze reaches us here.

The farmers work incredibly hard every day. If I miss the chance to take photos, the hay bales disappear very quickly. After work, I went back with my husband and my dog to take some pictures. The hay field looked quite different in the evening than it did in the morning. The evening sun was shining on the golden field, making it look even more golden.

On the other side of the field, there is a cornfield. The farmer left this land to rest last year, and this year they planted corn. The neat rows of corn look so beautiful. As the corn grows taller, I can watch it dancing in the wind.

I'm planning to go back to the farm stand to buy fresh corn this year as well. I still think fresh corn from the farm stand tastes the best.

My only concern is the dry weather. As I wrote last year, the dry weather affected this area a lot. It made the apples smaller, reduced the size of the vegetables, caused forest fires, and even dried up wells. The farmers worked incredibly hard to protect their crops.

I'm also worried about whether our newly drilled well will be okay this year. I really hope it will. I haven't even heard the nearby creek flowing lately. I think we're due for some rain soon. The balance between sunshine and rain is so important for all of our lives.

夏の風景：フィールドに転がっている干し草ロール

これは、私の住んでいる地域で夏になると見られる、大好きな景色の一つです。丸い牧草ロールを見ると、すぐに写真を撮りたくなるのですが、ときどきスマホを持って行くのを忘れてしまいます。今回は、朝、犬の散歩へ行く前に、今日は写真を撮りたくなるかもしれないなという気がしていました。それなのに、やっぱりスマホを忘れてしまいました。

そして、いざお気に入りの場所に着くと、この素晴らしい景色が広がっていました。ちょっと残念な気持ちになりましたが、その一方で、この美しい景色を愛犬と二人きりで見ることができたことが、とてもうれしくも感じました。

この牧草ロールの色を見るたびに、私はよくゴッホの絵を思い浮かべます。こんな黄金色を、あんなふうに絵で表現していたなんて、本当にすごいと思います。乾いた牧草の黄金色を描くために、ゴッホがどのように絵の具を混ぜていたのか、その瞬間を実際に見てみたかったなあと想像してしまいます。

本当に美しい景色ですよね。ここには自然以外、ほとんど何もありません。鳥や野生動物たちがいて、ときには車の音がまったく聞こえないこともあります。あたりはとても静かで、空気も澄んでいます。そして、夏の海風がここまで心地よく吹いてきます。

農家の方々は毎日一生懸命働いています。写真を撮るタイミングを逃してしまうと、この牧草ロールはあっという間になくなってしまいます。仕事が終わってから、主人と愛犬と一緒にもう一度同じ場所に写真を撮りに行きました。夕方の牧草地は、朝とはまた違った表情を見せていました。夕日が黄金色の牧草地を照らしていて、朝よりもさらに金色に輝いて見えました。

牧草地の反対側にはとうもろこし畑があります。去年はこの畑を休ませていましたが、今年はトウモロコシが植えられています。きれいに並んだとうもろこしの列は本当に美しいです。もっと成長すると、風に揺れてとうもろこしが踊る姿を見ることができます。

今年も野菜直売所にとうもろこしを買いに行く予定です。直売所のもぎたてのとうもろこしが一番おいしいと思います。

今一番心配しているのは、乾燥した天気です。昨年も書きましたが、この乾燥した気候はこの地域に大きな影響を与えました。りんごは小さくなり、野菜も十分に育たず、山火事が起こり、井戸まで干上がってしまいました。農家の方々も作物を守るために、本当に大変な努力をされていました。

そして今年は、新しく掘った私たちの井戸が大丈夫だろうかと少し心配しています。本当に無事であってほしいです。最近は家の近くの小川の音も聞こえないです。そろそろ雨が降ってくれる頃ではないかな、と感じています。私たちにとって太陽と雨のバランスはとても大事なものだと思います。
