Summer Photos

I am posting about the summer photography I took this year. Although I feel an autumn energy these days, I still feel the heat through these photos. I already miss the hot breeze.

I will show you the photos and share short stories about each picture.

This is my daily walking course with my dog. We often walk along this cool, breezy path under the big trees that create nice shady spots for us.

This road gets shady every morning, but in the afternoon, it becomes very hot as the shade disappears. I always feel so good when I pass through this spot. It feels like the shade and trees are welcoming us and greeting us.

I saw this butterfly in early summer when my husband found it. It had a faded orange colour with pretty black polka dot patterns. It loved hopping around our garden flowers.

I mentioned earlier that we ordered wood for our wood stove for the coming winter. Whenever we receive a load like this, I never feel confident that we’ll finish moving all the wood to the woodshed.

We spent a few weeks carrying wood to the woodshed little by little. I love stacking wood like this because it’s like playing a game of Tetris. Sometimes it doesn’t fit nicely, so I need to remove some pieces and re-stack them. When I find the perfect spot, I feel a sense of accomplishment and move on to the next task. It may not be anything special, but it’s fun.

I almost finished stacking the wood. I guess I can do a few more rows. I love the smell of dried wood in the woodshed. This process of moving and stacking wood helps me clear my mind.

When I feel stuck, I go outside and do this work, and it helps me reset and feel refreshed. It’s always good to do yard work when we need a break from our busy lives.

夏の写真

今年の夏に撮った写真をいくつか載せます。もうすっかり秋の気配がしていますが、この写真を見ると夏の暑い空気感を思い出します。

１枚ずつ夏の短い話を添えて投稿します。

これはよく犬と散歩をする道です。この大きな木々の影ができている道を歩くのはとても心地が良いです。

この道は朝になるとちょうどよい日陰ができ、午後になると影は消えてしまいます。この道を通るととても気分が良くなります。木々とその影が出迎えて挨拶してくれているような感じがするのです。

この蝶々は夏の初旬に主人が見かけました。色が少し褪せたようなオレンジ色で、黒の水玉模様がついています。蝶は庭の花から花を飛び回っていました。

冬の薪ストーブ用に注文した薪のことは以前書いたことがあります。いつもこのように配達されてきた薪のたばを見ると、冬になる前にきちんと薪小屋に運び終えることができるのだろうか…と疑問がわきます。

薪小屋に少しずつ薪を運んで、このように積んでいきます。私はこの作業がテトリスのようで好きです。ときどきうまくフィットせずにきちんとはまっていない感覚がすることがあります。そんなときは動かしてもう一度やり直し、合う場所を見つけます。うまくフィットする場所を見つけるととても気分がいいです。それが終わるとまた淡々と薪を運んで積む作業に戻るだけなのですが、特になんてことはないこのシンプルな作業が楽しいのです。

作業はほぼ終了しました。あともう少しで完全に終了すると思います。薪を積んでいく作業は自分を無我にしてくれます。

普段いきづまったときには外に出て、庭仕事をするとリフレッシュして気持ちがスッとします。日々の忙しい暮らしからちょっとだけ落ち着くためには庭仕事は最適です。
