Slow Spring

Spring is very calm, slow, and pretty here in mountain life. Dandelions, violets, lupines, and rhubarb plants are starting to bloom. This moment feels super precious, living in the mountains. The timing of blooming is a bit slower than in town. Every time I go downtown, I notice that the town is a few days or even weeks ahead of my place.

I enjoy the foggy mornings sometimes. I feel like I’m floating above the clouds. When I look down at the town from my window, it’s completely covered in fog, and I can’t see anything of it. It’s an amazing experience. If I go out and stand in the yard, I can only see a few meters ahead. That’s why I feel like I’m standing on the clouds, or in the clouds. This moment doesn’t last long. I call it a mysterious, magical morning moment. Everything feels paused for a while until the fog quietly disappears in front of me.

This farm is in town. As you can see, the colour of the grass is just right to welcome spring flowers. Soon, dandelions will cover the green grass.

My dog bumped into a new friend when we were out walking the other day. He was very curious to meet someone much bigger than him. This new friend was only around seven months old! She’s going to be a big dog for sure. My dog looked a bit small that day, but he was satisfied in the end.

My husband has prepared almost all of our garden beds. We can start spreading seeds in a few weeks, after the morning frosts are gone. I can’t wait for full spring temperatures to arrive someday soon. On the other hand, I will miss these beautiful, white-looking mornings. Mountain life offers such beautiful scenes from time to time.

遅い春

山にやってくる春はとても穏やかで、ゆっくりで、かわいらしいです。たんぽぽ、すみれ、ルピナスが花をつけ、ルバーブの新葉がやっと育ち始めました。山の中に住んでいると、この瞬間を目撃するのが貴重で嬉しい時です。町中の開花時期と比べると、山は数日、または数習慣ほど遅いことに気がつきます。

ときどき、真っ白く霧がかっている朝は気持ちがいいです。雲の上にいるような感覚になります。窓から町の方を見下ろすと、すっかり霧に覆われ何も見えなくなっています。とても美しい光景です。外に出てみると、わずか数メートル先までしか見えません。ただ、その時間はそんなに長くは続きません。神秘的でマジカルな時間です。目の前からすっかり霧が晴れるまで、すべてが止まっているかのように感じます。

これは町中にある農場です。見ての通り芝生の緑の色がかなり濃くなり、もうすでに花が咲き乱れる準備が整っているようです。時期に辺り一面たんぽぽだらけになるでしょう。

犬の散歩中、新しい友達に出会しました。自分よりも大柄な犬に出会ったので興味津々でした。この新しい友達はたったの６ヶ月だそうです！かなり大きな成犬になることでしょう。彼女と並んでいると、自分のうちの犬が小柄に見えてくるので不思議です。新しい出会いにかなり満足した様子でした。

主人が畑を耕して庭の準備を完了してくれました。霜が降りなくなるまではあと少しかかりそうです。種を蒔けるような気温になるのが待ち遠しい一方で、霧で真っ白になる綺麗な今の時期も楽しんでいます。山での生活は、時おりこんな風に美しい瞬間を見せてくれます。
