“Japanese Temples Photography Part 3

I’ve been posting Japanese temple photos in the Kita (north) Kamakura area. I am posting mainly a temple called Engakuji (円覚寺) through parts 1-3. I will share other temples someday soon. This time, I am posting most of the beautiful buildings at Engakuji. Some of them are very old, some of them look new but all look like they are maintained well.

I enjoy to check not only Buddhist artwork or statues but also historical buildings at temples. The techniques of architecture are wonderful. Additionally, they have an amazing restoration technique in Japan.

“ 日本のお寺の写真 パート３”

最近は北鎌倉のお寺の写真を投稿しています。パート１〜３までは主に円覚寺の写真を投稿してきました。他のお寺の写真はまた別の機会に近々投稿したいと思います。パート３では円覚寺の美しい建物をメインに投稿しています。とても古い建物もあれば、新しい建物もありますが、どれもとても綺麗に保たれています。

お寺では仏像や仏教アートを見るだけではなく、建物を見るのも楽しみです。建築技術は素晴らしいです。それに加えて日本の修繕技術は素晴らしいです。

This room’s colours looked very vivid and beautiful. Look at the ceiling artwork! The dragon looks very cool. Of course the Buddhist symbol looks very cool.

この部屋の色鮮やかさはとても綺麗でした。天井画を見てください！とてもかっこいい龍がいます。もちろん仏教も素晴らしいです。

This is a Buddhist statute in a cave. I love the ivy leaves around it.

こちらは洞窟の中の仏像。周りに生えているつたの葉がいい感じです。

This tree looks very cool. I like the building behind the tree.

この木はかっこいいですね。木の後ろに見える建物も素敵です。

“Nyoi (如意)” means literally as (you) wished or as desired. “Ruyi” in Chinese. It is a decorative hand object when Buddhists make prayers or teachings.

「如意 」物事が思いどおりになること。また、そのさま。僧が読経・説法のときに持つ僧具。

This scenery was very beautiful. There are beautiful mountains, buildings, a garden and a pond.

この景色はとてもきれいでした。きれいな山々、建物、庭に池。

No admittance: this dojo (training hall) is for meditation.
立ち入り禁止: 坐禅道場ニ付キ立入ヲ禁ジマス。

I love to peek inside of a gate like this. There was a cool building inside behind the trees over there.

こうして、門から中を覗くのが好きです。かっこいい建物が木々の後ろに見えます。

People are having a Buddhist memorial service inside the building.

人々が建物の中で法事をしているようです。
