How Old is Your Dog in Human Years?

This is a very interesting topic because it reminds me of when I first started loving dogs. I always wanted to have a dog when I was very little, but I never had the chance until I became a teenager. My first dog was a Siberian Husky. She was so beautiful and lived a wonderful life until she was 15 years old.

She was very good at opening door handles. Almost every morning, she would come into my room and wake me up. I loved those moments. She always had a serious poker face when she woke me up, and I loved that expression. Whenever I gave her a massage, she absolutely loved it. She would repeatedly place her paw on my arm, asking for more. It made me so happy to give her massages.

When I looked up her age in human years, I found that a 15-year-old large dog is about 98 years old. Wow! She was almost 100 years old in human years. She lived such a long and happy life, and I'm very proud of her.

My second dog was a beautiful French Bulldog. She also lived a long life and passed away at the age of 13. According to the dog age chart, she was about 74 years old in human years. She wasn't a large French Bulldog, but she was classified as a medium-sized dog. Toward the end of her life, she developed several health problems, but she remained strong. Her veterinarian told me that she was the oldest French Bulldog she had ever treated in our area. I think so, too. She really lived a long life.

My current dog is the first male dog I've ever had. Unlike my previous purebred dogs, he doesn't have severe allergies. During one of his recent check-ups, I noticed a chart at the veterinary clinic called "How Old Is Your Dog in Human Years?" I checked his age, and it said he was 63 years old. Oh my! He's older than I am now! Even so, he still looks young and is full of energy.

Recently, he fell in love with playing Frisbee. He absolutely loves his new green Frisbee because it flies so well over long distances. He can't stop thinking about it! Since we keep it in the shed, he often goes to the shed door to check if it's still there. Sometimes he even watches the shed from the living room window, as if he's making sure it's still there. He's definitely addicted to it.

I suggested taking the Frisbee to the hay field, and my husband did that yesterday. They had so much fun playing together. I just hope he doesn't injure his hips by running too much while chasing the Frisbee.

Hopefully, he'll stay healthy and live for many more years. I'm taking him to the veterinarian again today for a check-up on his warts. They haven't changed in size for many months, so I'm hoping they're simply age-related. Fortunately, he loves visiting the vet, so I never have to persuade him to go to the clinic.

あるとき、大型犬の１５歳は人間でいうと何歳なのか調べてみたところ、なんと９８歳だということが分かりました。わあ！ 人間でいうと、もうすぐ１００歳だったんですね。本当に長生きしてくれて、とても誇りに思っています。

次に飼った犬は、とてもかわいいフレンチブルドッグでした。その子も１３歳まで長生きしてくれました。犬の年齢換算表によると、人間では７４歳にあたるそうです。体はそれほど大きくありませんでしたが、中型犬として分類されていました。

晩年にはいくつもの病気を抱えていましたが、それでも本当によく頑張って生きてくれました。獣医さんからは、この地域で私が診てきた中で、一番長生きしたフレンチブルドッグだと言われました。私も本当にそう思います。とても長生きしてくれました。

今飼っている犬は、私にとって初めてのオスです。以前飼っていた純血種の犬たちとは違い、ひどいアレルギーはありません。先日、健康診断で動物病院へ行ったとき、「犬の年齢を人間に換算すると何歳？」という表を見つけました。そこで今の愛犬の年齢を調べてみると、なんと６３歳でした。えっ、もう私より年上なんだ！
と思わず驚きました。でも、見た目はまだまだ若々しく、とても元気いっぱいです。

最近では、フリスビー遊びに夢中になっています。新しい緑色の硬いフリスビーがお気に入りで、とてもよく飛ぶので大好きなのです。そのフリスビーは物置にしまってあるのですが、忘れられないようで、よく物置の前まで行ってまだあるかな？というように確認しています。あるいは、リビングの窓から物置をじっと見つめ、フリスビーがあるかなと見つめています。本当に夢中です。

主人に野原にフリスビーを持って行って遊んだらと提案しました。昨日、夫が実際に持って行ってくれて、二人はとても楽しそうに遊んでいました。ただ、フリスビーを追いかけて走りすぎて、腰や股関節を痛めないか少し心配です。

これからも元気で、できるだけ長生きしてくれることを願っています。今日はイボの経過を診てもらうために動物病院へ行く予定です。イボは何か月も大きさが変わっていないので、単なる年齢によるものだといいなと思っています。幸いなことに、家の犬は獣医さんに会うのが大好きです。病院へ行くのを嫌がることはなく、無理に連れて行く必要がないのは本当に楽で助かります。
