Feel The Winter Season

The half-autumn, half-winter season is here. Sometimes it’s mild, and sometimes very cold. Today isn’t too cold, but I had a slight brain freeze moment when I went outside for a dog walk. When the temperature drops, my head feels shocked for a while. My ears, cheeks, and nose were still cold, but as I started typing like this, the room temperature slowly melted them a little by little.

Winter is definitely here. When I walked my dog near the river, I noticed that the water level had returned and looked much clearer compared to the dry summer. I’m relieved that the dry weather has finally recovered. I can hear the creeks near my house again. The river reflected the autumn trees like pine trees, birch trees, and other trees that have already lost their leaves.

Look at this frozen pothole. I love checking the ice on puddles because they are so beautiful. Each ice patch has a different shape and colour. This one looks like ice flowers. Even the rocks look pretty under the ice. I can't stop breaking the ice and listening to the sound it makes. It’s my special early-winter ritual every year.

My dog was so excited that day because he met new buddies. They are brothers. They chased a ball, swam in the river, and ran so fast. My dog can’t swim because he doesn’t like water, but he admired those brothers who looked so wild and happy. My dog has two sisters and brothers, but they were separated pretty early, so he doesn’t know rough play. He enjoyed watching them and even shared some treats from their owner.

Morning frost is covering the grass. This also made me relieved because we had no green for a while due to the dry weather. Now the green grass has come back a little, and the frost sparkles on top. I love hearing the sound of frost, crunchy, crunchy.

冬を感じる

秋と冬が半分ずつ混ざった季節がやってきました。暖かい日もあれば、すごく寒い日もあります。今日はそこまで寒くありませんでしたが、犬の散歩に出たとき、少し脳がキーンとなる瞬間がありました。気温が低いと、しばらく頭がショックを受けたような感じになります。耳や頬、鼻もまだ冷たいままですが、こうして文字を打ち始めると、部屋の温度で少しずつ溶けてきました。

冬はもう確実に来ています。川のそばを愛犬と歩いていると、水位が戻り、乾いた夏とは違ってかなり澄んで見えました。乾燥が落ち着いてくれて、ほっとしています。家の近くの小川の音もまた聞こえるようになりました。川面には、松や白樺、葉を落とした木々など、秋の木が映っていました。

この凍った水たまりを見てください。水たまりの氷を見るのが大好きです。氷はひとつひとつ形も色も違って、とてもきれいです。これはまるで氷の花のようです。氷の下の石もきれいに見えます。氷を割って音を聞かずにはいられません。氷割りは、毎年の初冬の特別な儀式です。

この日は、愛犬がとても楽しそうでした。新しい友達に会えたからです。二匹の兄弟犬で、ボールを追いかけたり、川で泳いだり、全力で走り回ったりしていました。私の犬は水が苦手なので泳げませんが、野性的で楽しそうな兄弟犬を憧れるようにじっと見ていました。私の犬には兄弟姉妹が二匹ずついますが、早い段階で離れてしまったので、激しい遊び方を知りません。それでも眺めているだけで満足そうで、飼い主さんから一緒におやつももらいました。

朝の霜も草の上に降りています。乾燥続きで長い間緑がなかったので、これもまた少しホッとしました。今は少しずつ緑の草が戻り、霜がキラキラしています。サクサク、カサカサ。霜を踏む音も大好きです。
