Eclipse Day

April 8th, 2024, was Eclipse Day. It was a very interesting and creepy experience. In my region, the peak time was around 4:36-4:41 pm ADT. Today was also a new moon. Hmm... I didn't have special sunglasses to observe the eclipse phenomenon. I searched for other options, like using my regular sunglasses, but it was definitely not recommended.

This morning, it was very cold and frosted, so I needed to wear a winter coat. However, suddenly, in the afternoon, it became very warm. I went for a walk with my dog, and upon returning, I noticed the sunshine was very strong.

I waited for the peak time and took a photo of the eclipse. While you can't see the exact eclipse through photos, you will notice the darkness in them. It was a very strange feeling. The sun was shining, but the room became very dark. Actually, I felt a bit sick from it. After a while, the moment passed.

This is around 3:30 pm, just before the eclipse moment. I felt a bit of a strange darkness.

My dog also noticed the strange atmosphere, or perhaps he sensed my feelings. You can see the sunshine on the floor, but the room became so dark. I couldn't feel the sunshine even though I could see it.

This was around the peak time. You can still see the sun and sunshine in the photo. However, I felt like I was standing in the dark evening or something. It was nice to experience nature. I think the next eclipse in Canada is in 2044. Twenty years later!

日食の日

２０２４年４月８日は日食でした。実に興味深く、少し気味の悪い経験でした。私の住んでいる州では午後４時３６分〜４時４１分頃までがピークでした。今日はさらに新月でもありました。うーん…、私は日食観察用の特別なサングラスは持っていません。普通のサングラスで対応できるものか調べてみましたが、やはり通常のサングラスでは見てはいけないということで、あきらめました。

今朝はとても寒く霜が下りていて、冬用のコートを着なければならないくらいでした。ところが、午後になると突然とても暖かくなりました。犬の散歩に行って戻ってきた時に、太陽の光がとても強いことに気がつきました。

ドキドキしながら日食のピークタイムを待ちました。写真では日食の現象を見ることはできませんが、暗さに気がつくと思います。とても不思議な感覚でした。太陽が燦々と輝っているのに、辺りが暗いという現象です。実は、私は気持ちが悪くなってしまいました。しばらくすると、日食は終わりました。

これは皆既日食前の午後３時半くらいに撮った写真です。ちょっと気味の悪い薄暗さを感じます。

私の犬もおかしな雰囲気に気がついたのか、それとも私の気分がソワソワしているのに気がついたのでしょうか。写真に写っている床の上には太陽の光がそそいでいますが、部屋の中は薄暗いです。太陽の光が見えているのに明るさを感じないという変な感じです。

これはピーク時の写真です。写真の中には太陽の光が写っていますが、暗い夕方の中に立っているような感覚でした。こんな風に自然の現象を経験するのは楽しいものです。次にカナダで日食を観測できるのは２０４４年、なんと２０年後です！
