Blueberries, Snap Peas, and Potatoes in My Garden [English and Japanese]
Blueberries, Snap Peas, and Potatoes
The dry weather is affecting our yard a lot, but my blueberry bushes are doing okay this year. They produced a lot of flowers and fruits. The blackberries have also started to grow, but they're not fully ripe yet. This year's blueberries are very juicy, mature, and delicious.
It's fun to pick peas and berries with my dog almost every day. He loves going up to the blueberry field. That spot is usually very cool under the big pine tree.
I took this photo in the spring. There are many white blueberry flowers on this mature bush. I trimmed four blueberry bushes a few years ago, and again in late autumn last year. They didn’t look healthy for a while, but finally, they all recovered, except for one tiny bush.
The tiny bush didn’t seem healthy from the beginning, since I moved onto this land. It's not a happy feeling to witness plants struggling. Maintaining bushes isn’t easy either. I’ll need to trim some of them again this coming autumn.
I usually pick the berries in the morning or afternoon, sometimes in the evening. I leave them on the kitchen windowsill for a while, and they all turn a beautiful purple. I freeze some for my husband because of his allergy. We often eat them with yogurt. I eat oat yogurt with granola.
As I mentioned earlier, the weather has been very dry lately. In this photo, the peas look healthy and juicy, but they dry out very quickly these days, even though they still taste good. I usually eat everything, including the shells. Snap peas are such a useful vegetable.
The potatoes are almost ready, I think. They also looked very healthy in the photo, but again, the dry weather has damaged some of the leaves. Hopefully, what's under the soil is okay. I want to make curry with the potatoes.

Love the blueberries!
Thank you! I love blueberries too 🫐 !!
Picking berries with your dog sounds like a fun and relaxing routine. That shady spot under the pine tree must feel so nice, especially on hot days.
Yeah, picking berries with my dog is definitely fun! As you mentioned, the temperature in the shady spot is a few degrees lower than in the sunny spots. It's quite refreshing!
Your garden looks amazing despite of the dry weather. the blueberries and snap peas sounds delicious. I hope your potatoes turn out well.
Thank you! Unfortunately, we do have some damage, but since we keep a variety of weeds on our property, the land still retains some moisture. Hopefully, we’ll get some natural rain soon!
Does freezing help his allergy? I don't understand what you mean. I'm jealous of your blueberries though and those peas look big and fat.
Gosh they look huge and fat! YUm. And great they are pesticide free too.
