New dark pinup work from Los Angeles!

What’s up, Hive? I’m actually really happy to be sitting down to write this blog post tonight. I’ve had a great day. I’ve been sick with a cold and this was the first morning I feel like it’s passed. I took @guthrie to school and came right home to an epic nap. Sometimes I get in my head about productivity and rob myself of opportunities like this, but after being sick for the whole weekend, I gave myself permission to just crash out for the afternoon and it was beautiful. After that, kickboxing with @vermillionfox and the productivity happened at @caffetto right up until close. What a great day!

I have new work to share tonight and you’re all the first to see these new images right off the memory card from LA. This first shot is of my friend Cindy. I met her during a NOIR I LA event and we’ve remained close friends ever since. We’ve been through it all and shot together several times. She’s one of my muses and I covet the time we spent and shots we get when we’re able to collaborate. This was likely our last shoot together and I pulled out all the stops booking a dreamlike bohemian getaway on top of Topanga Canyon. I love this first edit from this shoot. I’ll be posting it on Instagram tomorrow.

Secondly, this is a photo of Renee Olstead. Renee and I first shot together in 2015 and since then she has transformed from a household singer/performer to a powerful force of nature that has embraced and owned her identity and inner strength. She actually met me early in the morning following the shoot with Cindy from above, and we managed to make these photos before check out. I’d only slept a few hours between the first shoot ending and Renee showing up the next morning, but you have to seize these moments when they’re right there in front of you.

Lastly, this shot is of LA based burlesque performer and model, Tas Al-Ghul. Tas’s shoot was about representing her Bengali culture and came prepared with this stunning wardrobe. At one point during the session, I asked her, “…how many looks do you have?”, and she said, “Only this one.”. That was actually such a relief as I didn’t feel pressure of frequent outfit changes and could give this one all the time and care it deserved. We shot throughout the Gable’s estate in Pasadena and it complimented the dramatic light I was able to get in the garden.
