Mid-March dark pinup à la carte!

What’s up, Hive family? Okay, I missed one day but I made it back here right away. Time management right now is extremely difficult but I’m beginning to find a rhythm. @guthrie and I are on three straight weeks of horror films at night before bed. We’ve watched every Friday 13th, every Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and both The Strangers movies. I’m managed to fit in some @caffetto time, some @lovejoy, @mada and @amberjyang and @roadscape time, while still managing to work on other projects that I’m consumed with. I’m also currently reading the Qur’an for the first time, but that’s an entirely different freewrite post still to come.

For tonight, I wanted to share some of my favorite images in a pinup à la carte post with some backstory from each shoot. This first image is of a friend of mine in the south. I was on a trip to visit @roadscape with stops on the road. She has been an Instagram friend of mine for years and we alway said if we were to cross paths in real life, we would shoot together for fun. She booked a cute and very unique space with both contemporary and industrial aesthetics and we finally made it happen. She brought an assortment of lingerie and upon wrapping the session, we listened to metal and found an all you can eat Indian restaurant nearby. It was a great memory.

This second photo was from last year’s Viva Last Vegas Rockabilly Weekend. Again, Minxie and I have been internet friends and have always wanted to collaborate together. We’ve missed each other year after year, but with some planning and luck in our schedules we found a small two hours window before her Saturday night burlesque performance and a couple of my shoots. We met at the Venetian Hotel on the Strip and I had to Tetris the room to hide as much luggage as possible to get this shot. It was a blur. I actually ran from the shoot back to another hotel on the strip immediately after this photo.

Lastly, this photo was from my second shoot with my friend Jaqueline. I’d met her years earlier during my first NOIR black and white photography event in Los Angeles. She was one of the clients that helped sell the event out and we did some great work together. One a future trip she booked a private session and we shot at the Gables estate in LA. This gave us the opportunity to take our time, catch up and laugh while walking room to room in a haunted mansion. I know this location like the back of my hand and we managed to get some ambient lighting which met the mood of the home.

Calling ‘Chainsaw 2’ horror is pushing it!

HAHA! That is fair, @slobberchops. We just watched Leatherface from 2017 and my son was irate. He's a huge nerd for the canon and it went WAY off the rails.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of my favorites 😎

What a good combination, listening to metal at the end of a session, I would listen to some old school Thrash 🤪

Wonderful shots and good story @kommienezuspadt friend! Awesome catches.

Have you done the Halloween movies yet? That should keep you busy for weeks, especially if you do the Rob Zombie ones too. You gotta skip 3 though, always skip 3. :)

We've done them a couple of years ago. I think we're about to start the Hellraiser movies, but there are some baaaaaaaaad ones in there after Doug Bradley left the franchise.

Haha yeah, those first ones were pretty classic though. Phantasm was always interesting too.
