Monomad challenge entry #170; Ada's cover art.
In two days time, it will be one year since I got married. Nobody speaks about how married life changes you. Not in a bad way, but a way that you just didn't expect it to. I've loved every bit of it so far and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Well, being married means that I now have two times the responsibility that I had as a single man. I've poured a lot of myself into ensuring that my family is in great shape, and this has undoubtedly given me no room to do the things I used to do, things like blogging on Hive.
However, things are better now and a lot of my daily activities are now automated, that means that I can be back to writing and sharing on Hive again. I have a lot to write about and maybe not just about photographs this time. Although photography still remains my major niche since that's what I do for work.
I'm glad to see that Hive is still going strong as well as the black and white community where I'm more active in. I browsed around before typing this post and I'm excited about the quality as ever. I'm also excited to see entries from my fellow countrymen. Really amazing stuff.
In my previous post I shared about how I had ventured fully into wedding photography and wanted to try portrait photography again. Well, let's just say that that hasn't gone according to plan. It's August and I haven't as much as photographed 10 portrait sessions. I guess I might have to quit it completely.
For my #monomad entry, I'll be sharing photos from a session with Ada. Ada is a long time client and friend. She was around the first set of clients I got when I started my photography journey. That was around 2020/2021. Since then she has always requested my services anytime she need a photoshoot. This time, it was a photoshoot for her birthday and also one that will serve as her music cover art as she had ventured into making music. We had no time to plan as she just came into the country few days before her birthday but I still found a way to work some magic.

This albeit spontaneous was really good. I got to meet my friend again after a long time and also the results were pretty good as well. I had to employ mostly hard lighting for the shoot. It's always my preferred lighting of choice when shooting music cover arts because in my opinion hard lighting gives a photograph more drama, more presence and more soul and like the music itself, it has the ability to draw in an audience. In fact, a lot of people get drawn to a song from its cover art. I'm one of such people. I'm glad I could deliver to her expectations.
The photos are my entry for the #monomad challenge and I hope I build consistency from this. Let me know in the comments section what you think about the photos.
