Wednesday Walk - Ayutthaya Walking Street
It was a bright morning 🌞 for my walk. This is the “Walking Street”, a local market in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya that opens on Tuesday and Friday mornings every week. It’s another market I really enjoy visiting because it’s not too far from my accommodation 🏡. From my frequent visits, I’ve noticed that the market offers a wide variety of goods — clothes 👕, food 🍲, and everyday items 🛒 — everything you might need.
The market is divided into two walking lanes, arranged in a long straight line that loops back. I particularly enjoy visiting the Walking Street in the morning because it feels relaxing and not too hot. On the other hand, it’s difficult for me to go to the night market 🌙 because after work I feel tired 😴 and not very willing to go far, as the evening walking street is usually farther from my place.
This morning at the market, the weather was fresh and pleasant 🌿 because of a light drizzle 🌧️, but luckily the rain had already stopped 🌤️. It made the air feel refreshing and cool for a morning walk 🚶♀️, although the ground was still a bit wet and muddy 💦. If you come around 7:00 AM ⏰, it’s not too crowded 👌, but after 8:00 AM, people start to pack in and it gets busy.
I really like the entrance area ❤️. There is a seafood stall 🦐🐟 at the market that offers fresh products at reasonable prices 💰. But if you come late, they’re usually sold out ⏳. You have to come early in the morning to get seafood like shrimp 🦐 and squid 🦑.
Most of the vegetables here are local produce 🥬 and pesticide-free 🌱. That’s why I really enjoy walking around this morning market so much 😍. I love choosing fresh vegetables and food for my breakfast before heading to work 🍳☕.
Besides food, there are also delicious Thai desserts 🍮🥥 There are many interesting Thai desserts 🍬🍮 here. Ayutthaya is especially famous for its traditional Thai sweets because it is an ancient city with many temples 🛕 that reflect its past prosperity. It is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site 🌏
Finally, my morning market walk ended with grilled chicken 🍗, sticky rice 🍚, and a cup of coffee ☕. Just this is enough to give me energy for work 💪
