Walk with me
The day started with a heavy downpour as early as 6:00 am. By then, I was still in bed because it wasn’t yet time for me to get up. I folded myself in the blanket and began to stroll down to Dreamland because I hadn’t had enough time to sleep at night.
The rain was heavy and lasted for a long time. It stopped around 10:00 am, and by then, I had already cleaned up my workspace. I took a keg to go and buy petrol, which I would use for the day’s work.
Before going, I thought of wearing rubber footwear because there was a possibility of waterlogging along the way due to the heavy rainfall, and I didn’t want to use my leather footwear to pass through waterlogged areas in case I encountered any. But I dismissed the idea and decided to go with my leather footwear because I didn’t want to be seen wearing rubber footwear.
Lo and behold, after walking just a short distance, I found the road flooded with water, and there was no way to bypass it. I stood there, thinking about my life and how I was going to use my expensive leather footwear to cross the water. At first, I thought of pulling off the footwear and holding it in my hand while I crossed the lake-like, water-flooded road, but the distance to cross was a bit long. Also, I felt I might get jittery if I sank my bare feet into the dirty soil.
At last, I just concluded to use the footwear to walk through the water like that, and when I got home, I would dry it under the sun if the sun came out. That was it, I walked through the dirty water, but thank God it wasn’t smelly because I hate bad odour so much.
I walked through the water to and fro, and when I got home, I placed the footwear on top of the zinc to dry in case the sun eventually came out. But no, the weather remained dull all through. There wasn’t any sun, but it dried anyway.
Saturday was just a dull-weather day all through, and I know a lot of people enjoyed the mood — especially those who observe weekends. For me, it was good too, but I worked immediately after I returned from the fuel station. I worked till 7:00 pm.
That was how I spent my day.
