I'm sure we've come across some tweets, memes, or people's statuses stating how the current generation we all know as Gen Z have lost all manners of training, people even saying "Those born from 2004 downwards are very disrespectful" not just how they talk but their lack of courtesy and even the way they dress, It's very sad seeing people display ill-mannered acts and call it being "woke" and disregarding good mannerisms.

Why Etiquette is Essential
Etiquette is more than just good manners, even though manners are very important, etiquette gives us the chance to present the best version of ourselves. It is all about making other people comfortable around us which helps us build trust, and good and healthy relationships, etiquette is the foundation to create and maintain a civilized and cooperative society.

In this current generation, there are loads of etiquette not being observed anymore like politeness, punctuality, respect, etc but the one that caught my attention the most is the dress code.

Dressing appropriately for an occasion is one etiquette we have lost in this current generation. First impressions are formed quickly, usually within seconds, and can have a long-term impact on how others perceive us. One of the quickest and most influential aspects of making a good or positive first impression is our appearance, specifically how we dress. There is how we dress that establishes a sense of credibility and trustworthiness in the minds of people as people often make judgments about credibility and trustworthiness based on appearance, for example, men who wear their trousers halfway below their waist are associated with or regarded as people who are thugs or have criminal intentions.

Dressing appropriately for an occasion or event shows that you value the significance of the event and that you respect both the people organizing it and those who will join you in participating in the event. This brings us to how young ladies that dress inappropriately and walk naked to certain occasions like weddings I don't even want to talk about the Asoebi (clothes usually worn during ceremonies like weddings) styles ladies sew. They call it looking sexy but Aunty you can look sexy and be covered not exposing sensitive parts of the body, girls or ladies dressed this way are perceived as one with no moral standard and are tagged as sex workers, most people might disagree and would want to state the fact that men should have more self-control but things like this trigger sexual harassment/assaults.
I know now we all want to follow the trends but there are certain trends we should say no to and should be unacceptable in our society. Remember how we dress is how we are going to be addressed.
