The White-backed Mousebird
What a rare moment for me, capturing this beauty. He was sitting high up in a tree - just scouting. Not really bothered with me watching its every move, even though I was not that close to it. A few meters away to be exact!
This White-backed Mousebird is about 34 cm long, with the tail (which is not visible in these pictures) comprising approximately half the length, and weighs 38–64 g - Can you believe that?
An interesting fact about the White-backed Mousebird: It has a whistled 'zwee-wewit' - call. It also has a buzzing or crackling call that might be for alarm or keeping in contact with the rest of the group, if they're around of course. Which is weird because I haven't spotted any more - just this little guy. They are social birds and always feed and roost in groups.
