Market Friday; Inflating my Budget proved to be a wise decision.

IMG_20231129_115551_777.jpg

My recent activities for most of this week fared well. I had a lot to do and I've been able to tick most of the things I have in my to-do list for this mid-week. Since my weekend is also bound to be busy in some ways and I've needed to restock my home, I decided to set out on a shopping adventure.

Due to the things I had to restock at the moment which are mostly household items, I decided to go to Omak Supermarket, a shopping mall that's within town. I already know what to expect about the price tag of things. Almost everything you can think of has become incredibly expensive and the reasons for that are not far-fetched.

I'm quite lucky on the transportation fare side of things. I live at the heart of Ibadan which is surrounded by shopping malls, markets, and co. For the most part, I don't spend much on transportation. I just step out of my apartment and walk for a few minutes before getting into a Mall of my choice.

The above picture shows one of the sections I browsed through while shopping. There is a soap I used last month when I traveled to the SouthEastern part of the country and I was hoping to find that in this Mall, but my luck didn't shine. I had to improvise and go for a completely different soap.

I also browsed through the section where perfumes and body sprays are displayed. I like to restock on those before mine completely runs out.

I ended up getting a body spray for #2000. I will likely be restocking my Perfume by next weekend, but I need to do a proper market survey before getting one. I've been planning to change the brand of perfume I use and I believe next week would be a good time to work on that.

The whole shopping experience was an interesting adventure. I don't like to waste time when I go shopping. And I don't usually buy things without planning to get them in advance. So, I went shopping hoping to buy Milk, Bread, Body Spray, Soap, Drinks, Groundnut Oil, Spaghetti, Sachet Tomatoes, and Noodles. I was able to get all that within 10 minutes because I already knew the exact section I needed to go to and find those in the Mall.

The above picture is a picture I took out of curiosity. I wasn't ready to get any of those equipment and I'm not sure I need those in my home right now. I already spent #163,000 to get a deep freezer three weeks ago and that's giving me undeniable satisfaction. Hehe. Blenders and Toasters can wait till the near future.

That's all about my shopping experience. I inflated my budget when going to the mall because I expected the price of things to go up. That decision proved to be a wise one because everything I bought today cost more than I usually paid for them. Everything, except the Bread which I bought #900.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

It's really an advantage to be living downtown especially now that prices are too high. At least you don't have to pay for your fare or spend for gas when going to the market. It's a big savings already.

That's so true. The transportation fare would have cost #600, but I saved that and added it to the money I used to get things at the nearby Mall.

I too like to plan myself before engaging in any shopping activity, else I will end up spending more than I bargained.

That's true. I do that because it also saves time. I just buy whatever I want and go back afterwards

It's really smart of you to have inflated your budget before going to the market plus what a great advantage you have living close to shopping malls. For a man , I am amazed with this..you even plan things carefully more than a woman would... Kudos to you o

Haha... I just had to plan things well this way because I'm always busy with the things I do and I don't enjoy have to sacrifice the time I should spend working because I have to go shopping. Haha.

Just to make sure I won't unnecessarily have to go buy stuff, I try to get things in bulk and I mostly buy things before I run out of those.

Hehehe. I guess we are the same here oo. I don't go out to buy things if I have not planned them. I plan and even inflate my budget because I might meet some prices of goods gone up and for me not to be shocked, I inflate my budget. I hope you got some body sprays for me too? 😃😃

Lol... This is what we have to do to make sure we won't be depressed whenever we hear the price of goods. I've noticed over the years that the price of things can just skyrocket out of nowhere. Haha.

That's why I always try to inflate the price. Haha. I don't want to be shocked. Lol

It's always a good thing to plan when going shopping so you don't buy out of impulse.

It's also a wise decision to inflate your budget because you never can tell if the market price will increase the more everyday.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures.

That's true. I've tried this on several occasions and it has proven to be very effective in having this organized and it sure helps my finances to plan these things well before going shopping. Hehe.

It's always good to have a budget and a little above to accommodate any product that has increased in price. I also love planning my shopping ahead of time and at times prepare my list months before time 😄

Anyway, I can testify that there are lots of supermarkets in IB.
My eyes are on the bottles of baileys...thinking of having baileys cake this season 😋

That's so true. There are a lot of markets in Ibadan. This makes it easier to buy things without going long distances in search of those things. Even when I bought my deep freezer a few weeks ago, I only had to go to a market that's less than a 10-minute drive away from where I live.

I also agree with that style of budgeting. I always budget above what I think would be the cost price because I wouldn't want to get any surprises. Haha

Oh wow! Less than 10 minutes drive, that's cool.

Yeah, it's always safe to do so.
