Behind the Camera: Fun Moments With My Niece

Happy Sunday Hivers!

One of the things I’m grateful to God for is being blessed with 2 nieces and 1 nephew. There may only be three of them, but I’m thankful that I have nieces and nephew to love and spend time with.

Since I don’t have children of my own, much of my love and attention naturally goes to them. They have become such a special part of my life, and I truly cherish the moments I get to spend with them.

However, these days, only one of them is still here in the Philippines, as the other two are now living in Canada. So, whenever I get the chance, I make the most of the time I have with the one who’s still here, especially when she wants to have her pictures taken.

Most of the time, whenever we have family gatherings, I’m the one who ends up being the family photographer and videographer. Because of that, my niece has gotten used to having me take her pictures.

So whenever we’re together and she spots a nice place or a beautiful background, she’ll automatically turn to me and pose. I already know exactly what she means when she does that. She knows I’ll take her picture, and I guess I’ve also gotten used to being her personal photographer.

The photo below was taken at one of our favorite places to hang out on weekends. The view there is always so relaxing, and since the scenery is already beautiful, we both know exactly what to do whenever we’re there.

I become the photographer, and she becomes my model.

Whenever I take their pictures, I simply tell them, “Pose however you like and do whatever feels comfortable. I’ll just keep taking photos.” I want them to feel natural and enjoy themselves in front of the camera rather than worrying too much about getting the perfect pose.

That’s also how I like taking pictures of my niece. I let her choose her own poses, and I just keep clicking the camera.

The second set of photos was taken while we were having a family dinner at Fina Restaurant. Their lobby was so beautiful, and since we were already there, we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to take some photos as well.

So, we took the opportunity and had a little photoshoot right there. She really enjoyed posing and didn’t mind the people passing by at all. She was simply having fun, while I happily stayed behind the camera.

The third set of photos was taken at the airport when we went there to send my nephew off as he headed back to Canada. After he had checked in, my niece spotted a nice little spot where there weren’t many people around. Of course, by then, I already knew exactly what I was going to do. She became my model again, and I was back behind the camera, capturing her poses.

Looking back at these photos, I realize that these little moments are what make our time together special. It may seem like we’re just taking pictures, but for me, these are simple memories that I’ll always be happy to keep. I may not have children of my own, but being their aunt and having these moments with them is something I’m truly grateful for.
