Waterfalls, Gorge, Wood and Steel Ladders: Hiking The Challenging Trail in Slovenský Raj National Park.
Hello fellow travelers! 😍
This is the continuation of our family adventure last August 2024. This time we went to the country's another true gem is Slovenský raj, or Slovak Paradise National
Slovakia is a haven for nature lovers and the country's natural wonders because of breathtaking landscapes that remain untouched and preserved in their natural state and for travelers.
And with lots of outdoor offers and just wait to be discovered. An unforgettable journey is about to unfold. My husband’s face was overjoyed since hiking is his greatest passion. Our excitement grew that unleashes our inner adventurer. Slovak Paradise has superb trails and breathtaking scenery. Found in Slovakia’s beautiful Poprad District, part of the Prešov Region. And known for its gorges, waterfalls, ladders and chains.
My husband will push our limits into a challenging adventure. For me I accepted the challenge but our Aya she's 10 years old at that time. I'm really scared for our trip because it's challenging terrain. And my husband rest assured me that if she falls down, she will fall. He literally says that, like no sweets talks. He wants us to challenge and enjoy our adventure.
Suchá Belá Gorge was our choice for a family hike and a truly popular hiking trail. Suchá Belá Gorge offers a breathtaking scenery, waterfalls, and enchanting scenery. Suchá Belá Gorge offers a moderate to difficult hike and yet it's still a popular choice for families.
Our morning started with a breakfast prepared by my husband. And everyone was set, our adventure calls us.
Our journey to Slovak Paradise made a spectacular view of the Tatra Mountains on our way to Slovak Paradise. The majestic Tatra Mountains provided the perfect view and our starting point as we began our family hiking adventure.
Arriving at Slovak Paradise, at the park entrance near the village of Hrabušice. We went outside of our car and the towering trees around us whispered in the wind. Even its early in the morning, our fellow hikers are getting ready for the day ahead. Busy adjusting our backpacks, checking our things, stretching before heading into the trails.
My husband paid for our parking fee. Poldesok is a starting point for our adventure.
Practical Information:
Podlesok: Staring point and paid parking lot .
Visitor's Fee: A fee is required to enter the gorge.
Person aged 15 to 65 years 4.00 €

Person up to 6 years old Free
Best Time to Visit: To avoid crowds early morning hours especially during the peak season of summer. July and August.
After our short preparation, we set off toward the trail that would lead us into Suchá Belá Gorge. Starting off our trail, Our trail through a quiet forest was gentle, along the steam running nearby. The trees were alive with the birds chirping filled the atmosphere and the sunlight filtered through the leaves in golden patches. It was a peaceful hike like our nature was giving us a soft welcome before showing us its challenging
adventure into the wild.

The gorge narrowed and the sound of the water filled the air grew stronger. Hinting our excitement that we could feel the adventure had started. Our trail quickly transformed into obstacles from wooden bridges, fallen logs and rocky paths. It is not an ordinary hike, different obstacles will come our way.
The journey got interesting as the gorge passage narrowed. We're more excited and I am a bit nervous too because it will be a more challenging and thrilling part of our journey. I say that, because the features of Suchá Belá Gorge are more wooden and metal construction ladders. Allowing us to climb higher and deeper into the gorge.
The air became cooler, the path turned rocky and we also crossed over the logs and slippery stones. We continued our hiking then we heard the sound of waterfalls. My husband says, be ready to and we're going to climb on the ladder.
When we're approaching the area there are lots of people who fall in line and wait for them to climb. Honestly, my heart skipped a beat when I saw it. It's more of Aya. As a mother, I can't help but worry about Aya that something bad might happen.

The moment we're waiting. It's about to climb and Zoe was the first to climb and followed by Aya. Aya’s fearlessness and adventurous spirit at her young age were truly amazing. Providing that you can't judge someone's bravery by their age.
The kids found so much joy in the obstacles. From logs to ladders to rock chains and every step felt like a daring quest for them and made them feel like real explorers on a quest.
I can't remember how many ladders we climbed. And we embraced each challenge with excitement as a confidence-building adventure. The moments we shared are treasures beyond measure.

After a long journey, we made it through the gorge. Can you imagine for almost 2 hours we conquered the waterfalls, ladders, chains and rocky terrains. It's a sense of accomplishment. By then, we have our time to pause and eat our snack.
After conquering the gorge, our hike continues as we make our one way trail back to Podlesok. My legs and muscles aching with each movement because another 3 or more depending on your pace. Despite the fatigue I experienced, the beautiful view of the Slovak Paradise helped me to keep going. It really helps me. And the kids, I don't see tiredness in their faces and they enjoy the hiking trail.
A sense of relief when we finally reached Podlesok. My legs may have been exhausted and a sense of accomplishment was worth it.
Our trip reminded me that hiking is not who's the first one to finish the line, it's not about rushing and it's more of savoring the path. Every step on our trail tells a story worth remembering. Our Suchá Belá Gorge adventure may have come to an end and I couldn't help but feel grateful for the experience.
Looking forward to explore more of your hidden wonders of Slovak Paradise and thank you for the memories. As we left Podlesok, my husband drove us to Levoča. Where we would spend a relaxing day and explore the charming town.
Until my next family adventure to Levoča.
See yah!
