From the Majestic Smolenice Castle Walls to Driny Cave Walls: Our Journey Into One Of The Hidden Beauty Of The Cave.

After exploring the beautiful Smolenice castle, we continued our adventure toward Driny Cave and it is one of Slovakia’s fascinating underground wonders.

Our adventure was more of nature’s secret place. The castle and the cave we journey starts even before the entrance. From the parking area, we could already sense the adventure. Because our journey started in the parking area and there was a wooden sign pointed towards the cave. It was a refreshing hike for 30 minutes, it can be more or less, It depends on your pace. For us, it's more than a half because kids are complaining already, especially Aya Honestly, that year. Aya was not a fan of hiking, but we want to tell her that hiking is fun, it's an adventure. And we can have more hiking adventures.

Our family adventure filled with discovery and excitement as we made our way going to the cave. Venturing into the forest, felt like we were like explorers. And before heading there, make sure to check the tour schedule inside the cave so you don’t miss the guided trip. It was a lovely adventure as we continued upward. Because of the cool air, the sound of birds echoing in the trees and it was refreshing.

And Aya keeps on asking “Are we there yet?’ And to make things interesting, we play, “I spy with my little eye, something….”

Finally, we walked up the stairs and reached the destination-the cave. I was amazed by the entrance of Driny Cave. It looks like a classic entrance and I can see the cave opening was dark and almost a triangular archway. It makes me wonder about the natural beauty inside the cave. We sit on the bench while waiting for our tour guide and start to see the natural wonders inside.

Driny Cave is the only public cave in Western Slovakia and beautiful for its magnificent stalactites and stalagmites. And of course, it's cold inside and prepare to bring your jackets to stay warm.

Our tour started when friendly tour guide greeted us and we started to enter on the narrow entrance of the cave. As we stepped inside, the atmosphere completely changed and we felt air turned cooler. And I love the sound of the dripping water echoed inside the cave. The guide’s flashlight unveiled the new pattern, revealing the layers of beautiful stone formations of centuries-old stone in shades of brown, cream and pale yellow. Small lamps lit our way as we ventured further in and revealing the cave’s natural sculptures in gentle light. The chamber sparkled with delicate stalactites, frozen for centuries and nature's own masterpiece. Standing in the narrow chamber and the experience felt so different, it was cool, magical and the those sparkling stone formations with hidden beauty.

When we reached the exit and saw the light, I can still remember the coolness of the cave and felt like a hidden place. The day was perfect, from the castle to the cave it's a mix of adventure, history, discovery and creating family memories . We felt grateful for the experience and thankful to witness the natural wonders.
