A Glimpse Of A Timeless Charm Of Church of St. Michael the Archangel: A Quiet Sanctuary In The Small Village Of Iža, Slovakia.

During our quick afternoon grocery in the charming village of Iža last Saturday. That was my first time to visit and check the interior of the church. I always found it closed every time we went to Iža. And last Saturday, I had a chance to have a quick visit and offer a short prayer.

That day was beautiful and the church stood gracefully against the clear blue sky. And the Church of St. Michael the Archangel.

In a quiet village of Iža, they had a precious gem that carries an undeniable historical charm. The building is a lovely sight in the small village of Iza. Its Baroque-inspired design gives it an elegant appearance and with its simple, modest, and immediately inviting.
The history of the Roman Catholic church was built in the 16th century. The church is formally dedicated to the Archangel Michael and is named The Church of St. Michael the Archangel. The prince from Transylvanian named price Stephen Bocskai's troops devastated the region in the early 17th century, leaving a trail of destruction and despair.
Then restoration of the church in 1721. Then the earthquakes happened in 1763 and 1773 that damaged the church again. In 1774, they restored the church again and so today the church does not have its original architectural designs.
The church has no extravagant design carvings compared to other churches I've seen. Its strength is its simplicity. Outside the church, there are a few trees that will give shade and that time the air feels calm and fresh.

As I entered inside to checked its interior design and the atmosphere immediately changed. I was entirely alone and I felt deep sense of peace and solitary moment. The air was noticeably cool, the distinct scent of aged wood and melted candle wax carries filled the space. Its interior has a simple, intimate and spiritual feeling.

The altar is the main focal point of the church that dominates the space with the paintings of Archangel Michael with the two angels on the side. I admire about its interior, the paintings and statues scattered throughout the church. It was overly ornate as other churches but it carried faith and grace.

Looking up to its ceiling, the architectural design I really admire because of the displays biblical scenes.

It's true that the beauty found in simplicity is the same as the Church of Saint Michael. There's no need to impress instead the authenticity of its architectural designs.
Before I went outside, I was all alone and I offered my prayers , allowing a full minute to pause and reflect.
As I stepped back outside, my husband was waiting for me in the parking area. The cool air and the sunlight welcomed me again. And I felt so grateful for my visit to the church.
It reminds me that peace is found in quiet places like church. Where there's faith, sanctuary of calm and history. When my visit to the Church of Saint Michael was a place where my time slows down and peace gently takes over.

Hey @katiekate86 you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
We have too many churches dedicated to saint Michael in my city but the architecture are very different from the one you shared, by the way I like the simple lines and white colours of the external part and the neat and dull of light inner part.
Thank you for your comment. We also have number of Saint Michael churches in our country. Hope they will finish the painting outside of the church. The white color it conveys the sense of simplicity and purity. I know the church has lots of renovation because of what happened from centuries. Still the community wants to built again and again, whatever happens.
i really liked your line about peace being found in quiet places like this church. Its amazing how such historic sanctuaries can make us feel so grounded and connected..
Thank you and I agree with your words. In our busy and noisy place, sometimes it's good to find a quiet place like church. It's gives me peace and calm my mind, especially I'm a busy mom. Even for a moment I have time to reflect and thank God for everything. 😍
