Hello travel lovers. I would love to know where to start this review but the emotions of this trip compete to be the one, so I decided to start at the beginning and tell you about this trip as if I was having coffee with friends.

A few weeks ago I went on holiday to Topes de Collantes. As a child my answer to the question what do you want to do on this holiday always ended up in the same place, Topes, this place belongs to the Escambray Mountain Massif which extends through the three Cuban provinces, Cien Fuegos, Villa Clara and Sancti Spiritus, Topes de Collantes is a nature reserve that is very close to Trinidad, both places belong to Sancti Spiritus.

This time I will talk about one of the obligatory places to visit if you visit this natural paradise. The Caburni waterfall is a simply stunning place. Some friends say that it is so impressive because it passes through one of the energetic lines of the planet, something mystical that I don't understand very much but I do understand that the nature of the place is very particular and intense.

The route starts in a village that bears the same name as the waterfall and just before entering you will find the remains of what was once a kind of cinema under the stars that I would honestly love to see in operation. Continue through a hamlet and steep hills to warm up your body before the tough 3 and a half kilometres that await you after the cock and the start of the trail.

As it was not the first time I had walked these mountains I decided that I was ready to do it without a guide, and before starting the adventure I was warned that the route was complicated and I was told where I had to buy the tickets to enter the trail. The memories that I had, the truth was not similar to what the guides that I consulted told me, really in childhood one has extra energy that this time I needed because for a person who is not used to exercise on a daily basis it is a hard task to complete the experience without complaints.

The way to the waterfall is beautiful, there is a very particular place called the elephant's trunk and there really is a certain similarity. From this point onwards the descent is quite steep and from time to time it makes you think that you have to climb all that way back up again, but apart from complaints it is very beautiful, the lush nature, the sound of the birds and the fresh air make the walk bearable.

After the long hike you finally get to the impressive waterfall and one of the most beautiful rock groupings I have ever seen in my life, it really is quite a big place. You can stay at the first waterfall or go a little higher and be fascinated by what I am telling you now. The pictures I took I swear they don't do justice to the beauty that my eyes saw. I went at the beginning of June and although the lack of rain meant that the volume of water was less, I was able to enjoy the purity and temperature of the water very much.

I recommend taking plenty of drinking water, light food and energy because the ascent is stronger than the descent. Despite what I have told you, I don't know why this place is so special, there are many beautiful waterfalls all over the Escambray but this one has something inexplicable that makes it unforgettable and even though it is one of the most difficult hikes, I would repeat it more than once. If you made it this far, thank you very much. I would love to receive recommendations and constructive criticism on this publication. Thank you and have a nice day.

Hello! Thank you very much for posting on the Worldmappin Community. We would like to remind you that one of the rules of our community is to pin your post to our map. This will give your post more reach, as well as have the chance to be featured in our daily Travel Digest 😃.

We think you tried to do it, but you should paste the pin code in the body of the post and not in the title :)

Quick guide on how to do it.

1 - Go to https://worldmappin.com

2 - Find the location of your publication on the map, you can do this by scrolling on the map or using the search bar.

3 - Click on the GET CODE button and then click on the exact location of your publication: a code snippet will be generated.

4 - Copy the code and paste it into the draft of your Hive post. Then publish it :)

The code will be invisible in your post, but a few minutes after publishing you will receive a comment informing you that your post has been added to the map.

Or you can directly pin your post to the map via PeakD. After drafting your post, click the map icon at the bottom. It's beside "Short preview description" and above the "Advanced" icon.

We suggest you read all the rules of our community here.

For any other questions, don't hesitate to contact our team on our Discord channel.

Cheers!
