Only your smile, a rosy ring to hold onto.
It is Sunday, I wanted to write a movie review for a light, comedy film but I have not seen anything new. So, I thought I should better create a light post with photographs from my recent walks.
All the below shots come from my recent walks in Heraklion city, and more specifically from Lakkos area, where I went to participate in one nice guidance to a very old city church. I dont know if I will make it some day to the whole story of the temple, which requires more research and sources .. as there were many events that took place there since the 1600s, I hope that I can do it - for me and for anybody else who will interested in that.
All the below photos are created in June, by my Canon R8 (24-50mm)
The first time I entered the garden of this temple I was so beautifully surprised! It has this nice statue that you can stay and watch

Something else that I discovered is that everyone can go up this little staircase and find themselves at a beautiful, amazing garden! I did not have time to sit around, but I ve made a promise to myself that I ll be back!

When I was walking I went past a really cute shop. I took some photographs and right then some tourists came looking at the shop (maybe because of me stopping and taking photos?), so I just left

In this and the below photo, you can see such a big difference, a few meters apart.
In the first image, you see old houses, restored and so beautiful.
In the second image, you can see how neglection seems.......

Some of the spots really look more beautiful with the flowers in bloom and the street art around.

In some other spots, you really start to wonder and to imagine things. Who used to live here? Why is this so small and separate?

Here, next to one of the city's restaurants a tender quote from a poem by Yannis Ritsos
"μοναχα το χαμογελο σου, ενας ροδινος κρικος να πιαστω "
"Only your smile, a rosy ring to hold onto..."

And for you who could wish to see the whole poem, this is it:
It comes from his deeply moving poem "Πρωινό Άστρο" (Morning Star), which he wrote in 1955 as a tender lullaby and love letter to his newborn daughter, Eri.
I have a little girl...
I am a tree in the middle of the sky.
Hold onto me.
Only your smile, a rosy ring to hold onto.
Hold onto me.
A single movement of your tender hand instantly erased all the darkness.
