My Walk on Mother's Day and some Thoughts

photo-output.jpeg

The Greek word for mummy is μαμά. (mama')
A word that sounds so sweet, so simple, so natural.

There are people who have not known their mothers, still .. when in need, the world that comes to mind is this.

Μαμά, βοήθησέ με.

I think it is something in our DNA, we are part of our mothers - because they gave us life. No matter what happened next, another human being allowed us to be their parasite for 9 whole months.

I will not start by what it means to experience this.

I will only say that as I grow old, I understand that we get so mad to our parents as we were young.. We believe that we know it all, and only when we grow up we understand how much we hurt them while all they did was care for us.

Χρόνια Πολλά μαμά..

Anyways, I decided to go for a walk in the afternoon, just because I wanted to take some test shots.

In one month, we will need to prepare a photo exhibition with my other co-students. I was looking at my previous photos and there not many I would like to send to be honest. I do not like my older photos so much. I respect them, they are part of my life. But my perception has changed.

So I will try to see the world around me with different eyes from now on.

IMG_7281.jpegIMG_7282.jpeg

Of course to do that, you will need to experiment with light, lens, and a variety of other settings. Sometimes it is not so easy to do that through the phone photo sensors.

IMG_7283.jpegIMG_7284.jpeg

I often loose my focus and the close ups are not to clear. The left photo is on one of those that did not come right.

On the contrary, the more distant photo seems just right! The light, the detail and clarity seem fine to me.

IMG_7287.jpeg

Unbelievable, right?
We got ourselves a lifeguard tower! I do not know if there will be a lifeguard there soon, but it will be interesting to see that happening!

This is open ocean before us, and next there is an organized part of the beach. Maybe it is the law now that sets a lifeguard as an obligatory service when you have a beach bar I guess.

Continuing my walk, I went close to the CretAquarium to see what is around.
Maybe I can go at some point to shoot some butterflies on the flowers.

IMG_7288.jpegIMG_7295.jpeg

There is also a nice cafe-restaurant, perhaps I will visit it at some point!

IMG_7296.jpegIMG_7297.jpeg

Again, trying out my lens and also taking images of what is around me. It is a nice place for sure. Too bad that it closes early in the afternoon.

IMG_7299.jpeg

OOps, there is a bug! Finally, lets see what my photo will capture.
I find it more difficult to capture close ups (macro) with this new (half a year old) phone of mine.

IMG_7300.jpegIMG_7301.jpeg

This is the CretAquarium Entrance.
I plan to go and ask them .. listen, I am a neighbor.. is there a way I can pay for a weekly or monthly ticket? Oh the fish and sharks I will photograph!! hahaha

IMG_7311.jpegIMG_7309.jpeg

More close ups. Do you like them? Do you think that the left one looks like a smiling face?

IMG_7312.jpeg

A photo test. Not great, but I am allowing it to be here

IMG_7315.jpeg

A mother with her child. They were so happy together, I decided to capture that!

IMG_7316.jpegIMG_7320.jpeg

mom, mummy, μαμά, μανούλα

IMG_7326.jpeg

Something priceless that happened is that when I was writing that on the sand, she called me. It was a lovely moment. She has a cold and I have not seen her for a while so it was like we thought of each other at the same time!

IMG_7327.jpeg

Playing with sand and light and photos!

I took some more shots with the moon and a plane that looked like a sock but I had issues uploading them. Maybe there is a limit in photos? Not sure.

Thanks for bearing with me, wishing you lots of love and affection and anything else you desire in life!

I'm curious....what type of phone are you using to take the photos? I think they're awesome, and yes, I see the smiling face flower!

Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day!

Elizabeth!!! Thank you so much for your kind words (and for noticing the cute face :))
I am using iPhone 15 pro max, and I cant complain for the landscape shots, but I think I need more effort to understand how macro works best.
Thank you again for coming by, I appreciate it!!!

You are most welcome, @katerinaramm! I have the exact same phone and I know exactly what you are going through! Sometimes, I find backing up a bit will bring in what I'm actually trying to take a picture of. Then, if you edit the photo and zoom just a little, you kind of get the same effect as macro. The other thing is that it seems that it always wants to focus on what's behind the thing you want to take the picture of, lol! It's a learning curve for sure, and one I've yet to master. Perhaps we can help each other.

Take care and have a lovely week!

Oh Elizabeth!!!

I am so happy that I am not alone! Yes, please lets try to help each other.

Regarding editing and cropping, our photography teacher told us that normally it is not allowed (for photographs that will be used i.e. in exhibitions or so) - but of course it could work and I have done it.

Have you noticed that when you take a video, you have a greater zoom (up to 15x) and you can take photos during it? The quality is not the best, but you can zoom in objects that are far away using the video)

About macro, there is a setting where you allow it to be enabled automatically. If you de-select it, then you can use it when you want I think.

Do you use portrait or photo mode for your images?

I was aware of the zoom on the video, but unaware of the photo capability while videoing. On another note, you can always screenshot a pic while you replay the video which does give better resolution.

I generally use photo. Have you taken a picture of say like a tall stand of trees using the pano but from forest floor to top of trees? It makes everything look like it's bending together. It's seriously interesting!

I haven't ever taken a photography class, so all of my photos can be a bit of trial and error, but the phone and the three cameras make it interesting. I do enjoy photography!

I just checked and my macro setting and it is indeed on.

Take care and enjoy your day!

Mother is the closest and most beautiful woman in the world. Every child should know about the importance of a mother. Although my parents are dead, I feel my parents from the depths of my heart all the time. At the same time, I always pray to the great creator with both hands. The creator is truly great and gave me the opportunity to grow up in my mother's lap with so much care. But now I am a child without parents. You are right that as we grow older, many children do not care about their parents. But a mother nurtures ten children in her lap. I deeply pray to the great creator for her patience. But it is a very sad thing that a mother cannot look after ten children. Although I do not have parents, I feel it in my heart. Surely you also feel it? There are some special places where we spent some time with our parents. Those places are so memorable that tears come to the corners of our eyes whenever we see them. It cannot be stopped in any way. I don't know how much water there is in the ocean, but for my mother there is more water than I can pour in a moment. She worked very hard to raise us. I believe that as you followed your mommy's writing in the sand, maybe she also remembered you. Taking pictures with the plane and those visible pictures of the ocean with nature and environment were really beautiful. But to the great creator, I express my love from the bottom of my heart for your parents. At the same time, I wish you and your family happiness, prosperity, peace and good health. happy mothers Day

Best regard #mdakash62

Hi, how are you doing @katerinaramm .. I really felt this post deep in my heart.. It's true,, no matter what our relationship is with our mothers,, the word carries so much weight and comfort.. I've also had moments where I didn't realize how much my parents cared until I grew older.. hits differently now.

Thank you for coming by.
Isnt it a shame that we only realize somethings when we get older? Would it be different if we had the same sense of maturity when we were kids? Or would that mean that we would loose our childhood?
Dont know.
Thank you again, have a lovely day!
