Companionship, Responsibility, and the Wisdom of Animals

Human beings are often regarded as the most advanced creation of God because we are able to think, reflect, express our emotions, communicate, and apply reason. Among all living beings, humans possess the widest range of qualities, and no other species shares this same combination of abilities. Throughout our existence, we have used these abilities in constructive as well as destructive ways. At times, we have damaged the natural world, and at other times we have helped it recover. Even when people seem careless toward nature, a time eventually comes when its true value becomes clear to us. The gifts we have been blessed with are meant to be used thoughtfully. With privilege comes responsibility. Our purpose is not only to seek comfort for ourselves, but also to ease the lives of other beings that share this planet with us or depend on us in any way.

From the earliest periods of human life, certain animals have lived close to us—some for mutual benefit and others simply alongside us. Dogs, for instance, have remained loyal companions for ages. They protect our homes, our lives, and even our livestock. They are considered among the oldest friends of humans and continue to support us when they are treated with kindness. Cats, too, have long shared our spaces. Beyond companionship, they provide emotional comfort, lessen loneliness, and create a calming presence in a home. Many people feel that spending time with a cat eases anxiety and brings down stress, lifting the overall mood. Their companionship reminds us that all living beings are connected and that caring for nature is part of our duty as humans.

Cats also serve a very practical role by controlling rodents, which can otherwise become quite problematic. As winter sets in and temperatures drop, rodents search for warm places and often make their way into houses. That is when the real trouble begins. They can damage structures, spoil stored grains and nuts, contaminate food, and even pose risks to health. Having cats in the house can prevent much of this. This winter, we too faced a rodent problem at home, and it was only because of my cats that the situation came under control. Their presence saved us from further damage, and in that moment their importance became even clearer to me. I have always tried to raise them with care, and whenever a situation demanded it, they have responded in their own way.

I have come to realize that every living being exists for a reason. The harmony of nature benefits humans only when we choose to live in balance with it. We should avoid causing harm to other creatures and, if we are unable to help them, we should at least allow them to live peacefully in their own space. Live and let live.
Thank you for going through my post. Have a great time ahead.
