Wednesday Walk | Everything is better with blue skies

Today is one of those exceptional days in the Netherlands where is there is no cloud to be found in the wide area. Sure it is damn cold outside, below zero even still when heading out. But you can dress to that and be all fine, just the amount of fun and energy to go and do stuff that this weather gives you is a whole different ballgame.

It was time to step out of my regular walking lap with doggo and head out to something different. I really feel that this region here in the Netherlands has such nice places to walk around with without any effort of getting there, it almost feels like a blessing to have the choice to see some different stuff.

Just look at how deep blue the sky is and imagine feeling the sun on your face to that. Just lovely!

Still wet and ice art?

Now this is the part which was still underwater a couple of weeks ago and I was a bit afraid of that strolling would be a muddy challenge with the dog (he likes to dive around in the mud you know). This wasn't the case at all as the ground was frozen solid entirely still.

It was almost challenging to walk around because the ground was so rigid because it was frozen. You can still see that the water hasn't entirely left though.

Even cooler it was to see that some of the water field had some layers of ice covering the water still. This almost looks like some kind of art form I always think. Like all of these triangles mean something together, but they just don't ;)

Doggo really understands the concept of shallow water and ice though, he wants to run all over it and doesn't really care is he gets wet feet.





Luckily he always breaks through the ice in the first step though before he able to get on even further onto the ice. That would be a problem getting him out of there. It is just good that he is easy to call back.

Not a lot of people

It was really cool to realize there weren't a lot of people outdoors today appreciating this weather. That felt like all of the fields were all mine and mine entirely.

I ran into some old timers on the way back asking me if the woods were good to walk in or if they were still to wet. I guess we all have the same questions.





But as you can see...it was all just beautiful today. Not a single sign already though that spring is around the corner and stuff is growing again, because that just isn't the case.

Everything is still in winter hibernation and brown is still the colour of the season.

But brown and blue skies however? Heck, I'd take that any day!
